Musings on the Week
Musings on the Week
January 3, 2015
Government - “One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results.” Milton Friedman.
Politics – A 2013 poll found "American Dream" was defined as (75%) was "to have freedom of choice in how to live one's life," followed closely (68%) by "to be rewarded for hard work.”
Politics – Twenty five states have a lawsuit against the President’s executive amnesty declaring executive orders unconstitutional so states can nullify the content within its borders.
Politics – Michelle Obama forced the White House chef out because like typical Democrats, she is constantly whining about nothing and continuously unhappy about everything.
Scandals – Another year goes by and no one yet is held accountable for administration misdeeds and cover-ups in “Fast and Furious,” the Benghazi attack, and IRS targeting.
Scandals – Obama legacy must include “deny, obfuscate, delay” as an effective strategy for avoiding any accountability for the parade of administration scandals.
Politics - This week’s distractions from the stagnant economy and ObamaCare: 2002 speech by Republican congressman and Cuban crackdown on political dissidents.
Politics – Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren for President: “Dumb and Dumber,” socialist or progressive, Obama 2A or 2B, since both will continue the failed leftist policies from Obama.
Politics – Governor Palin endorsed 22 candidates for various offices during the midterm finals, including senators, governors, lieutenant governors, and congressmen and 20 were elected.
Media – The liberal MSM is selling “conventional wisdom” that Republicans must appeal to moderates and independents to win elections, but fails the test of history.
Government - “Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program.” Milton Friedman.
Pensions – Many municipalities have unfunded pension liabilities slated to pay fat pension deals negotiated by public-employee unions which may bankrupt these cities and states.
Housing - Obama ordered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to donate hundreds of millions of dollars a year to a permanent affordable-housing slush fund for Democrat activist groups.
Healthcare – Jonathan Gruber revealed the truth about ObamaCare: it was unpopular when proposed, unsustainable as designed, despised when passed, and disliked to this day!
Healthcare – ObamaCare results: individual premiums rose an average of 49%; 44% of doctors plan to cut back patients; and implementation costs will top $2 trillion over 10 years.
Immigration – Illegal immigration on the southwestern border actually rose 14% over 2013, the third straight annual increase, straining healthcare, education and food bank services.
Immigration - 96% of the more than 4,100 families released on recognizance and ordered deported did not show up to court, prompting the government to classify them “in absentia” while 92% of the 1,600 unaccompanied children to be deported did not bother to show up.
Welfare – Twelve states require drug testing or screening for welfare applicants or recipients, and in 2014, 18 states have legislation pending for some form of drug testing or screening.
Energy – Governor Andrew Cuomo banned hydraulic fracturing (fracking) punishing the New York economy, while he caved to environmental hysteria, with no proof of claims.
Environment – The fundamental flaw in the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) hysteria is that it is unpredictable by model, unsupported by data, and unexplainable by zealots.
Crime – Protestors in Ferguson and New York City are not grassroots oriented but agitated into action by revcom.us, brought to you by the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.
Crime – With black mob violence on the rise with blacks fighting, destroying property, and assaulting police, it is only a matter of time until more wannabe thugs get shot by police.
Crime – There has been a 56% jump in cop-killings, many ambushed and shot by black suspects, just like the two executed in Brooklyn.
Civil Rights - The American ghetto has chronic poverty, high unemployment where people can't find meaningful work, and kids shackled to failing public schools ensuring that they won't reach their God-given potential. This creates a permanent underclass in this country and ensures that this group of people will continue to live life at the bottom. That's the kind of conversation that we need to have, as to how these failed liberal government policies have led to the creation and emergence of the welfare state.
Education – Education reform traditionally a local matter, has been federalized with Common Core, originally designed for standards but hijacked for leftist indoctrination.
Marriage – Same-sex marriage has been legally approved so it is tolerated by most Americans but that does not mean most morally agree or endorse this sin.
Freedom - “A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both.” Milton Friedman.
Military – There is no excuse for the delay in the conviction of Bowe Bergdahl for desertion during wartime and no reason not to sentence him to the most severe judicial punishment.
Military – Over 20,000 soldiers have dropped out from the ranks since 2006, but only 1,900 cases have been prosecuted, even though desertion is usually easy to prove.
GWOT – President Obama claims to be ending the longest war in American history, but neglects to consult the Islamic jihadist enemy who continue this war unabated by politics.
GWOT – The United Arab Emirates has put CAIR and MAS on its list of foreign terrorist groups as front groups for the terrorist organization the Muslim Brotherhood – the U.S. doesn’t agree.
GWOT – As Obama releases the final high risk Guantanamo detainees the recidivism rate will surely skyrocket from the current 30% rate as they quickly return to the global jihad.
Israel – Israelis know that Palestinians don’t really want a two-state solution, because they are dedicated to the destruction of any Jewish state in the Middle East.
Russia – All three rating agencies are expected to downgrade Russia's debt to junk soon and bailouts to Russian banks are on the rise, but default is likely in their future.
Venezuela – Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro announced a new currency system, devaluing the bolivar to avoid inflation passing 1,000% as soon as next year.
