Musings on the Week
January 24, 2015
Dependence - “Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.” Thomas Jefferson.
Politics - Obama has turned the annual State of the Union report into a partisan infomercial composed of his unaffordable, unsustainable, and un-passable pipe dreams, most DOA!
Politics - America voted again Tuesday night skipping the State of the Union because people didn’t want to hear any more self-serving “blah, blah, blah” from President Obama.
Politics – Obama has a tenuous grasp of reality and is campaigning to create a legacy by rewriting history to provide a positive narrative in a reality of domestic and global failure.
Politics - The public has no confidence in the government because there is no trust in the government statistics (inflation, unemployment, growth), now they have been re-defined.
Politics - CNN polls found 78% of Americans said they are worried about the economy, 69% say economic conditions are not good, and 65% believe the country in on the wrong track.
Politics - This week’s distractions from the stagnant economy and ObamaCare: “free” community college that will cost $30 billion and Switzerland decommitting from the euro.
Dependence - “We don't want to turn the safety net into a hammock that lulls able-bodied people into complacency and dependence.” Paul Ryan.
Economy - The big emerging nations (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) have all tried a full –throttle experiment in Keynesian stimulus spending, and have all failed to meet expectations.
Economy - Europe has not learned from America’s mistakes, so is embracing Quantitative Easing which will increase debt, erode their currency, and deflate their economic growth.
Deficit - Obama continues to trumpet that he has decreased the budget deficit, but he fails to mention this decrease is only compared to his previous five record budget deficits.
Finance - Student-loan debt passed $1 trillion dollars in 2013, quadrupling since 2004, and was the only household debt that rose during the recent recession.
Jobs - Obama’s recovery neglects to acknowledge that there are still 1.7 million fewer workers with full-time jobs than in December 2007 when the recession began!
Energy - Obama fails to mention that oil drilling on public lands has fallen by 6% while drilling on private lands, where the federal government has no control, has increased by 61%.
Environment - Environmentalist’s hyberbole on running out of food, running out of oil, rising seas levels, and increasing catastrophic weather have all be disproven as hysteria.
Environment - CNN poll found 57% of those polled say global warming is not a serious threat to our way of life; nearly half of Americans say global warming is caused by natural forces.
Environment - Claims that 2014 was the hottest year on record are false since temperature differences are smaller than margin of error, and not supported by atmospheric readings.
Taxes – It is hard to understand Obama’s definition of “fair share” when it comes to the federal income tax the top 1% of earners pay more than the bottom 90% is “not a fair share.”
Taxes - With both parties calling for tax code changes, the time for a fair and equitable tax may have arrived and time for completely replacing income tax with a flat consumption tax.
Healthcare – Even though ObamaCare spends $1.8 trillion over the next decade expanding insurance coverage, by 2022, there will still be 31 million Americans without insurance.
Civil Rights - The Race Grievance Industry “Theory of Exploitivity” declares racism as the motive for any disagreeable white-on-black activity, as a default call-for-action.
Marriage - Marriage is a societal construct endorsed by major religions while government scope only applies to contractual relationships missing the family connotations completely.
Sexuality - The focus was legitimizing first homosexuality, then trans-sexuality, and now targets incest as the last barrier to open sexuality by the alphabet crowd (FABGLITTER).
Abortion - Ironically, the two women (Roe and Wade) whose cases were basis for a pro-choice agenda ended up repudiating the very outcome of their cases becoming pro-lifers.
Abortion - Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, endorsed eugenics as means to “cull inferior races from the gene pool” and now 79% facilities are in black neighborhoods.
Abortion - A Marist poll found that 84% of respondents support “significant restrictions” on abortion; such as limiting abortions to the first trimester of pregnancy, only allowing abortion in cases involving rape, incest or risk of maternal death- or not at all.
Dependence - “We have seen what the dependence and addiction to foreign oil has done to us economically.” Ron Kind.
GWOT - The savage Islamist violence recently aimed at journalists and Jews in France is the same savage jihadist violence that has been aimed at non-believers for 1400 years.
GWOT – Bush saw terrorists as an external force that had to be fought in a war and defeated, while Obama sees them as an internal element to be socially managed and assimilated.
GWOT - Just as the Obama administration skipped the Paris solidarity anti-terrorism march, countries can feel free to boycott Obama’s conference on “violent extremism” as ill-defined.
