Musings on the Week
January 28, 2017
Liberty – “As long as our government is administered for the good of the people, and is regulated by their will; as long as it secures to us the rights of persons and of property, liberty of conscience and of the press, it will be worth defending.” Andrew Jackson.
Politics – WikiLeaks revealed that Hillary Clinton campaign staffers, not the Russians, tried to influence the Presidential election by bribing six Republicans PACs to “destroy Trump.”
Politics – Trump Derangement Syndrome is the real motivation behind the Women’s March on Washington, since it was just a post-election temper tantrum by progressive sore losers composed of miscellaneous leftists to voice their displeasure with no coherent message.
Politics - Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has his top echelon of staff resign before he gets confirmed, so let’s hope the same happens at Justice, the EPA, the IRS and a host of others.
Politics – Democrats think they lost the election because they weren’t “race conscious” so demonizing white voters is their strategy, but may condemn them to a generation of losses.
Media – President Trump’s tweeting has destroyed the monopoly on news by the liberal media, giving him direct access to the American people to define his own narrative
Media – Donald Trump is a Master Media Manipulator, who routinely says things the media considers ridiculous, but they’re reporting exactly what he wants them to!
Media – The best thing coming out of this election is that more and more people are openly questioning the veracity of the mainstream media and no longer assuming it is accurate!
Media – The average American correctly perceives that nothing Trump does will please the mainstream media, so their hysteria is discounted or, increasingly, ignored.
Media – After obediently taking a hands-off policy with the Democrat President’s children, the mainstream media now sees no problem attacking the Republican President’s children.
Media – It is ironic that the liberal media demands respect, yet only gives it to Democrats as news is slanted against Republicans, and then they bristle when they create fake news.
Judiciary – “All the rights secured to the citizens under the Constitution are worth nothing, and a mere bubble, except guaranteed to them by an independent and virtuous Judiciary.” Andrew Jackson.
Deficits – President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, but instead he is the proud owner of the eight largest deficits in the nation’s history
Immigration – The 2016 Republican platform clearly stated that “sanctuary cities” violate federal law and endanger their citizens, and should not be eligible for federal funding.
Elections – All 50 state secretaries of state are urging the Trump administration to rescind the last-minute Homeland Security directive calling state election systems “critical infrastructure.”
Elections – All 50 states already have active voter fraud investigations underway, so a comprehensive look at election integrity is probably long overdue.
Education – The Obama stimulus spent $4 billion a year on “School Improvement Grants”, but the Department of Education found that they had no impact on student achievement.
Education – A high school diploma used to be an achievement, but now with social promotions and grade inflation, children have to work hard NOT to graduate.
Feminism – The contrast is stark between last week’s Women’s March for woman’s rights and to wear a “vagina hat,” while this week’s March for Life is for healthy children and families.
Abortion – Marist poll found the overwhelming majority of women in this nation want abortion restricted, don’t want it funded by tax dollars, and think it causes more harm than good.
Abortion – Republicans only want to defund federal subsidies for abortions, clearing the way for funding by donations solicited from pro-abortion advocates in the states.
Civil Rights – The “Black Lives Matter Network” is a hate group of more than 50 organizations, based on lies, that pursues black racialism and promotes racial hatred and anti-Semitism.
Peace – “Peace, above all things, is to be desired, but blood must sometimes be spilled to obtain it on equable and lasting terms.” Andrew Jackson.
United Nations – Instead of withdrawing completely from the UN, the U.S. should seek to “rightsize” funding based on organization performance and national benefit received.
Defense – The Trump Administration should “unsign” the Arms Trade Treaty by notifying the UN that the U.S. does not intend to ratify the ATT, nor consider itself bound by the treaty.
NATO - Only five of NATO's 28 members, the U.S., Greece, Poland, Estonia and the U.K., meet the alliance's target of spending at least 2% of GDP on defense.
Latin America – The Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (Rio Treaty) has shrunk to irrelevance and is also a candidate for dissolution or re-negotiation.
Israel – Arabs don't want peace with Israel, because they just don't want Israel, and they will come up with any excuse for frustrating the possibility of a peaceful resolution.
Turkey – Much like Holocaust Deniers, the U.S. is being asked by the Turkish government to not recognize the Armenian genocide ever happened 1915-1923 by the Ottoman Empire.
