Musings on the Week

Musings on the Week

April 2, 2016

Liberty - “When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty” Thomas Jefferson.

Politics - This week’s distractions from the economy, ObamaCare, and terrorism: discredited anti-vaccination film at film festival and Latin America apology tour.

Politics – If nothing else, a DOJ/FBI indictment of Hillary Clinton would finally prove that she is a serial liar who spends an inordinate amount of time ineffectively covering up previous lies.

Politics – Realistically, the only way Bernie Sanders can be the Democrat nominee for President is for Hillary Clinton to be indicted by the FBI and for her to drop out of the race.

Politics – Television embraced Donald Trump without adequately fact-checking him, at a time when the media is struggling with deep insecurities about its financial future.

Politics – Inside the beltway Ted Cruz is an ideological zealot, but everywhere else he represents a principled conservative with real solutions to return America to prominence.

Politics – American voters may have five choices in November: Donald Trump, NeverClinton, NeverTrump, Hillary Clinton, and None of the Above (ranked least worst to worst).

Liberty - “As government expands, liberty contracts” Ronald Reagan.

Economy – The Fed marked down its first quarter GDP growth estimate to just 0.6%, along with another month of tepid economic results.

Economy – The government serves the People but produces nothing on its own, because it operates by taking resources away from the productive.

Immigration – Multiculturalism celebrates the perpetuation and imposition of incompatible cultures forcing one culture on another that does not want or need it.

Environment – Polls regarding what is most important to Americans continue to rank man-caused climate change dead last or near the bottom consistently.

Elections – A vast majority of all voter fraud prosecutions this century have been Democrats falsifying voter registrations, facilitating illegal voting, or manipulating voting results.

Drugs – It is no surprise that persistent cannabis users experience downward socioeconomic mobility becoming a burden on families, communities, and national social-welfare systems.

Liberty - “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy” John Adams.

Trade – Polling suggests that voters recognize the benefits of free trade more now than any time in many years, even as Presidential candidates advocate more protectionism.

Defense – President Obama’s “Nuclear Security Summit” is a waste of time with no goal and no purpose other than as a propaganda photo opportunity.

GWOT – The reason Islamic jihadists hate western countries is very simple: We are not Muslims, and will not submit to Islam, and it’s all written down in the Koran if we will just read it.

GWOT – The Muslim world has been at a war of conquest with the Christian west for 1,400 years to create a global caliphate based on the political and religious ideology of Islam,

GWOT – As long as Washington considers Islamic terrorism to be a law-enforcement matter, rather than the global guerrilla war it has morphed into, we will continue to lose.

Europe – Violent Islamists, an active and violent minority of Muslims, refuse to assimilate and seek to convert by force the natives of the host country that they inhabit under Sharia law.

Iran – Iran’s economy suffers from corruption and plundering by senior state officials, with every administration coming to power in Tehran having a hand in the people’s pocket.
