Musings on the Week

Musings on the Week

April 4, 2015

Leadership - Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time.”  George W. Bush.

Politics – Recent polls show Christians strongly oppose Obama on almost every issue, from his economic policies, to his attempts at a deal with Iran, to his immigration policies.

Politics – The Senate will go from bad to worse replacing Harry Reid in 2017 as Minority Leader with Chuck Schumer, a demonstrable party hack who loves to hear himself talk.

Scandals – The DOJ has closed the door on the IRS political scandal by refusing to prosecute Lois Lerner despite overwhelming evidence and confession of her many misdeeds.

Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: Indiana Religious Freedom Act and New Nigerian President.

Politics – Hillary Clinton is her own worst enemy because her pattern of incompetence and dishonesty has dogged her path at every step in her undistinguished career.

Politics – The TEA Party is alive and well, just hibernating and waiting for a Conservative to finally awaken and energize this beast to begin long overdue repair by our next President.

Economy -I know it's going to be the private sector that leads this country out of the current economic times we're in. You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money.George W. Bush.

Economy - The sputtering U.S. economy created just 126,000 jobs in March as bad weather, weak consumer spending and flailing corporate profits resulted in worst report since 2012.

Economy – Obama has crammed a normal 18 month economic recovery into a leftist “fundamental transformation” resulting in an 72 month lackluster economic malaise.

Automotive – Obama administration has a new definition of cheap: the auto bailouts were “cheap”, with General Motors only costing $10.2 billion and Chrysler on costing $1.2 billion!

Jobs – Kansas tax cuts for economic recovery has shown positive results with job growth tied with Utah for fastest in the nation, and Kansas side of Kansas City doing better than Missouri.

Healthcare – ObamaCare’s true cost is disguised by subsidies for insurance companies due to expire in 2017, and when they do, premiums for Bronze plans will soar as much as 45%.

Healthcare – The transition to ObamaCare was painful, it is expected that the transition from ObamaCare will be just as painful, hopefully to a much better patient-centered system.

Energy – The federal government should send Nevada a bill for $15 billion wasted on Yucca Mountain as a nuclear waste repository, now that its use has been rejected by the state.

Gun Control – Now even the FBI has been politicized reclassifying many suspect “shooting incidents” inflating the “mass shooting” statistic to justify politicized gun control agenda.

Culture – Liberals have never understood that tolerance of behavior or actions only acknowledges the existence, but does not imply agreement or support for the behavior.

Religion – The new Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act is modeled after the 1993 federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act to subordinate government interests to citizen’s First Amendment freedom of religion (“free exercise thereof”).

Abortion – In 2010 to 2012, GAO found Planned Parenthood and its affiliates received $344.5 million in federal funding, and $1.5 billion overall when Medicaid state funds are included.

Education – Americans have many postsecondary options other than four-year degree such as associate degrees, occupational certificates, industry certifications, and apprenticeships.

Crime – African-Americans are running out of venues for their Spring Break mob violence and mayhem, being no longer welcome in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia.

Crime – Much like Guantanamo, Obama has begun a new initiative to empty prisons of drug offenders, with the first volley commuting 22 federally convicted drug traffickers.

America - Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.George W. Bush.

Military – Suicides, sexual assaults and other bad behavior by service members spiked after enlistment standards were lowered during the wartime peak to meet enlistment targets.

Middle East – With the Obama administration seen as missing in action in the Middle East, the Arab League alliance of 22 countries endorsed the creation its own force to fight terrorism.

Israel – There is a two state solution created in 1946: Jordan for Arab Palestinians and the Jewish State, Israel, with defensible borders based on 1967 conflict, including the Gaza Strip.

Iran – As P5+1 participants scurry to abandon the negotiation table, Obama tries to spin the verbal discussions as an “agreement” to pursue a deal, which is unintelligible (understood differently by Iran), unenforceable (Iran rejects the terms), and ineffective (only manages the speed of Iranian nuclear weapon development for ten years – “when”, not “if”).

Iran – Add Iran to the long list of Obama foreign policy disasters, as this kabuki theatre comes to a close after non-negotiable conditions are negotiated by disingenuous negotiators.
