Government - “The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.” James Madison.
Politics – Fortune has published a list of the World’s Greatest Leaders that, for the second year in a row, excludes the current President as it measures practical success vs. ideology.
Scandals – Obama’s only lasting legacy will be that he distracted, diverted, and obstructed all political scandals such that no one was ever held accountable for any political misdeeds.
Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: Indiana Religious Freedom Act and White House computer hackers.
Politics – Hillary Clinton, whose only selling point is her genitalia, is actually a bridge to the past of bad ideas, partisan politics, and bad results rather than a pathway to the future.
Media – Journalism Schools have changed their mission from teaching how to gather facts and deliver the conclusions that follow to selecting facts to sell pre-conceived narratives.
Politics – Rand Paul is a Libertarian running as a “Republicrat” while Ted Cruz is a Tea Party Conservative trying to rescue the Republican Party from its political-elite implosion.
Legislation - “It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” .
Economy – Every time the U.S. economy seems ready to shift to a higher gear, the engine stalls as reality catches up to correct the political narrative.
Income – Income inequality looks backward focused on bridging the gap between the rich and the poor, while income mobility looks forward at elevating the poor as quick as possible.
Income – The BLS found the average American household’s pre-tax income went down from mid-2013 to mid-2014, on top of a similar decrease the previous year.
Healthcare – The state healthcare exchanges are a tough sell and need to enroll up to 75% of their eligible markets, but the states are having trouble getting over the 40% mark.
Social Security – Democrats, lead by Elizabeth Warren from liberal Bizarro-land, propose to accelerate the demise of the bankrupt Social Security Ponzi scheme by expanding benefits.
Welfare – When Maine enforced work requirements for non-disabled residents to continue receiving welfare benefits, only 22% of the people remained on the SNAP rolls the first year.
Legal – Legal ethics suffer as lawyers use their skill to thwart honest answers and even worse, lawyers abuse the powers of their office to persecute political enemies.
Family – Nearly half (48%) of American children are born to a mother who is not married, an 43% of American children live without a father in their home.
Marriage – About 50% of Americans over 18 are married, compared to 72% in 1960, as the family size shrank and fertility rate fell to a record low of 62.9 births per 1,000 women in 2013.
Crime – Our administration state has over-criminalized American life with a proliferation of criminal statutes and regulations backed by criminal penalties corroding the rule of law.
Civil Rights – Affirmative Action has institutionalized grievance-based discrimination with balkanization of our politically correct society as the desired end state.
Freedom - “If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.James Madison.
Trade – The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) has 29 “chapters,” only five cover what is normally considered “trade,” and is bloated with environmental regulations and labor mandates.
GWOT – Obama’s foreign policy is to compartmentalize all the terror groups (al Qaeda, ISIS, etc.) and then try to address them individually in a military strategy of whack-a-mole.
Military – The Marines maintain their high physical standards for the infantry and no female officer has passed so far, while the Army has lowered its standards to meet political “quotas.”
VA - AP found the number of delays for veterans seeking care has not improved in over a year, despite Congress giving an extra $16.3 billion last summer to shorten waits for care.
Iran – Obama has no deal with Iran, which has cheated on all its commitments and obligations, has lied and stonewalled the IAEA inspectors, and clearly cannot be trusted.
