Return to Common Sense

Freedom – “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.Thomas Paine.

Politics – After five years removed from MSM induced Bush Derangement Syndrome and Obama fatigue setting in, George W. Bush’s popularity and achievements are improving.

Politics – Conservatives can only recover GOP leadership by abandoning incremental changes to set themselves apart by embracing radical, Constitutional “originalist” changes.

Politics – Obama’s sequester scare strategy has been a political flop, but his administration keeps trying with the latest gambit being the FAA 10% furlough of air-traffic controllers.

Politics – Attempts to blame the Boston bombing on “right wing” extremists is the liberal attempt to project their own evil behavior on their enemies for moral equivalence.

Politics – Despite claims of no knowledge of the bugging of McConnell’s office, the accused politico, Shawn Reilly, attended a December 5th White House with Obama’s fundraisers.

Media – The media has revealed their partisan leaning by ignoring the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist accused of multiple murders including children.

Media – The MSM downfall has already begun, but I expect this avalanche to continue more layoffs at the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the TV Network News departments.

Equality – “I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy. Thomas Paine.

Economy – The Fed is creating the next bubble that will make housing look tame, because when interest rates return to normal company balance sheets will sink under the weight.

Jobs – Today 6.5 workers are on disability for every 100 who have a job at a cost of $135 billion, which is double the ratio from two decades ago and six times the ratio since 1970.

Taxes – According to an Inspector General’s report, at least 21% of Earned Income Tax Credit payments in 2012 were “improper” ($11.6 billion), the highest entitlement fraud rate.

Environment – The Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Act is the platform for the Big Lie that CO2 is causing the earth to warm and efforts to reduce use of energy.

Environment – The proposed “carbon-pollution” tax punishes “large emitters” of “greenhouse gases” but has no measurable environmental benefit, only politicized redistribution of wealth.

Immigration – Perhaps it is time to severely limit issuing visas to Moslem countries like Chechnya and Saudi Arabia unless they renounce jihad, and hold them financially liable.

Immigration – Perhaps it is time to set immigration quotas based on immigrant performance: welfare rates, crime rates, high school dropout rates, and drunk driving arrest rates.

Welfare – The problem with government assistance is that they are measured on how much they increase participation, not on reducing poverty, thus perpetuating the problems.

Welfare – As long as we make welfare, food stamps, etc. comfortable, there is no reason to leave the government dole and pursue a productive job that may or may not pay more.

Welfare – The government’s free phone program for low income households increased from $143 million a few years ago o $2.2 billion today after cell phones were added in 2008.

Education – Obama continues to push his “Preschool for All” program of early learning to 4 year olds, despite government studies that show little long term value and very expensive.

Gun Control – Obama was furious at Senators who did not vote for his gun control legislation even though the bill did not do anything that prevent any future Newtown-like tragedy.

Gun Control – Fifteen states have enacted some 31 laws regarding guns so far in 2013, increasing gun rights by expanding carry laws and easier to obtain concealed carry permit.

FEMA – President Bush delivered steadfast support to New Orleans despite incompetent local leaders, while President Obama is under-delivering Hurricane Sandy support to New Jersey.

Deficit – I expect one or more states to declare bankruptcy and seek assistance to recover from the bad economic decisions of the past under federal judicial protection.

Housing I expect that it will take four or more years at the current rate for the backlog of foreclosures to finally clear, before we see any signs of life of a robust housing recovery.

Peace – “I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.Thomas Paine.

GWOT – Obama’s doubletalk about the nature of our enemies, Islamic jihadis, has achieved neither greater safety for Americans nor improved popularity in the Arab world.

GWOT – Despite Obama’s desire to put the Global War on Terror behind him, Islamo-fascists will not cooperate and continue to attack the Great Satan, the United States of America.

Libya – The latest Benghazi report finds State Department lack of preparedness, Department of Defense abandonment of troops on the ground, and White House tried to cover it all up.

Syria Bashir Assad has called Obama’s “red line” bluff on the use of chemical weapons, so now Obama is asking the ineffective UN to intervene and issue a “stern words” warning.

Russia – Russian GDP growth has fallen consistently and inflation has been soaring stripping the economy of any momentum and threatening a return to a damaging recession.

Denmark – Danes have overhauled entitlements, trying to prod citizens into working more or longer or both, since in many regions people without work outnumber those with them.

Israel I expect that Israel will be attacked by Hamas and the IDF will retaliate by invading and then re-annexing Gaza based on defensible borders and 1920 San Remo Conference.

Israel – I expect that Israel will suffer a nuclear attack from Islamist extremists, and Obama will talk a lot, but stand aside and refuse to help defend this longtime ally.

Asia – I expect that North Korea will attack South Korea and attempt to reunite Korea, and Obama will be unable” to support our troops and will negotiate for a stalemate.
