Musings on the Week
May 6, 2017
Media – “I could not be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from Washington’s swamp, spending my evening with all of you with a much, much larger crowd and much, much better people.” Donald Trump at Harrisburg rally.
Politics - Rightists wrote the book on liberty under the Constitution, and fought and bled so that their children could live under Christian principles and morals and free from tyranny.
Politics – The Democrat Party used to serve white Catholics, but they are fleeing the party in droves, because you can’t be pro-life and thrive in the Democrat Party anymore.
Politics - Leftists believe in the power of the ruler over the rabble since people are incapable of living without government direction, and turning America into a totalitarian dictatorship.
Politics – The Democrat left has shown that partisanship has become a faith-based proposition, with dissent not treated as misguided opinion, but rather as apostasy.
Politics – Democrats have ended their “unity tour” more divided than ever, not sure who to demonize next: white males (identity politics) or rich people (class warfare)?
Politics – Democrats are completely focused on placating their frothing, left wing, anti-Trump base while the American heartland thinks these people are insane.
Politics – Fascism has been reborn and they come in the form of liberal Democrats in black hoodies on college campuses assaulting conservative speakers and rioting on campuses.
Politics – The left has decided to make protest their permanent campaign, but normal Americans have lives, are working, and don’t identify with people who protest all the time.
Politics – Before FBI Director Comey lamented his investigation, Hillary Clinton committed multiple felonies with her personal email server and lax security procedures.
Politics – Trump has forgotten more about business than Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton combined ever knew is helping to get our economy going back in the right direction.
Politics – Trump’s first 100 days changed the conversation from the previous administration’s “new normal” of slow growth, climate change and strategic patience into a narrative about America’s ambitions for growth, energy and national security.
Media – The White House Correspondents Association dinner was proof that the mainstream media would rather talk about themselves than the issues important to American voters.
Media – The Washington Post-ABC News survey found that a majority of the public thinks the Democrat Party is out of touch with the concerns of average Americans in the United States.
Media – With many conservative thought leaders now available, will a new conservative media outlet be created funded by conservative sponsors invulnerable to liberal attacks?
Media – “A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation’s capital right now.” Donald Trump at Harrisburg rally.
Economy – Consumer confidence is at its highest level in 17 years, and the stack market rally since Trump has been elected has been the 2nd biggest since John F. Kennedy was in office.
Economy – Puerto Rico declared bankruptcy, crushed by $74 billion in debts and $49 billion in pension liabilities, with six of 10 unemployed and nearly half in Medicaid.
Budget – What happened to President Trump’s budget guidelines?: a 1,700 page, $1 trillion omnibus spending bill that does not defund Planned Parenthood, does not include deep cuts to domestic agencies, does not fund the border wall, does not defund public broadcasting, and even includes funding for California’s high-speed rail.
Land – Trump is relooking at the large national monuments since more land has been added under Obama than any previous President, and federal decisions are not permanent
Labor – A Rasmussen poll found only 25% have a favorable view of union leadership, and only 20% of Americans think labor leaders "do a good job representing union members."
Healthcare – ObamaCare is the first step in establishing socialized medicine by wrecking the health insurance industry and make people dependent on government for health care.
Healthcare – The House voted nine times to fully repeal ObamaCare when Republicans knew President Obama would veto it, but now that they can actually repeal ObamaCare, dozens of moderate Republicans are blocking even a partial repeal.
Energy – The Renewable Fuel Standard blends ethanol with fuel to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil, but adulterated fuels are also less efficient and more costly.
Environment – Environmentalists have sacrificed their credibility due to over-reliance on notoriously inaccurate, and biased, climate computer models.
Environment – Another temper tantrum, exploding brain meltdown, euphemistically called a "march" protesting "climate change," by the liberal-left now that the “antifa” unwanted one-world, phony-science, no-tolerance-for-diversity has been rejected in the U.S. and Europe.
Education – College “Studies” courses too often are therapeutic, neither inductive nor Socratic, and rarely teaches facts, methods or means of learning without insisting on pre-designated conclusions based on group-think and ideological race/class/gender fervor.
Media – “If the media’s job is to be honest and tell the truth, then I think we would all agree the media deserves a very, very big fat failing grade.” Donald Trump at Harrisburg rally.
GWOT – Islam is not a religion, but a theocratic form of government wherein the people are all kept oppressed under Sharia Law and all non-Muslims are must submit to Islamic law.
GWOT – President Trump must rationalize reality by formally declaring a War on Global Terrorism, by whatever name works and with whatever tactics are appropriate.
Venezuela – The Left once again defines “insanity” by embracing the failed socialist policy claiming that it was never done correctly in Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc.
