Musings on the Week
May 19, 2018
Civil Rights – “Government must answer not just to the wealthy, not just to those of a particular religion, or of a particular race, but to all its people." Robert F. Kennedy.
Politics – Those who oppose Trump generally do not understand how desperate and disgusted almost half of Americans are at the most inept twenty-year streak of presidential misgovernment in American history that preceded the 2016 election.
Politics – Democrats do not learn from mistakes when they implement “progressive” policies caused by failed big government solutions so the answer must be bigger government.
Politics – The left’s template for change is if you can’t win through the ballot box, then you take to the courts, and when you can’t win there, you take to the streets!
Politics – The Democrats committed all their energy to proving their assumed self-evident proposition that Trump could not win, then that his victory could be undone, and then that it could be vitiated by scorched-earth obstruction, or destroyed completely by investigations and indictments.
Politics – Most people understand that voting for Democrats isn’t going to make Trump go away, it’s only going to hinder the progress of the conservative agenda he is trying to push.
Politics – The Democrats are experiencing an internal feud across the country on its direction to focus on gender politics and people of color to the exclusion of white males and the rural poor and the liberal mainstream media refuses to cover it (“Stuck on Stupid?”).
Politics – Democrats must keep blacks fearful, angry and resentful by painting Republicans as racist to ensure blacks continue their unquestioned support of the Democrat Party.
Politics – The leftist takeover of the Democrat Party is causing the party platform to change from supporting capitalism to change to embracing socialism and all its shortcomings.
Politics – Congresswoman Maxine Waters is known for her windiness, talking over her allotted time, talking out of turn, making all legislation revolve around race, demonstrating what childish petulance looks like, and generally making a nuisance of herself ignoring the rules.
Politics – Hillary Clinton is a two-time political loser who hasn't gotten the message that she is unlikeable and unelectable, and would do herself and the country (not to mention the Democrat Party) a favor by retiring and leaving the scene of her political accident..
Politics - Contrary to predictions of a November “blue wave,” the GOP has a advantage on the most important voter issues: seven-point advantage on the economy, an advantage on taxes and trade, and they are even with Democrats on dealing with Russia.
Politics – Democrats look like they are coalescing around an anti-American party platform for 2018 (and probably 2020): Impeach Trump, Open Borders, Guarantee Make-Work Jobs, Raise Taxes (Redistribute Wealth), Confiscate Guns, and Provide Abortion Anytime.
Media – The mainstream media is imploding as more and more newspapers and media outlets are downsizing their independent reporters and just repackaging liberal narratives.
Media - Conservatives are being suppressed and attacked by Google, Facebook, and Twitter who are using their power to squash speech and thoughts that the rich coastal liberals who work at and run those companies don't like.
Media – When a Republican politician is arrested, his party affiliation is included in the lede, if not the headline, but if he’s a Democrat, no mention until the 10th paragraph, if at all.
Media – There is nothing unconstitutional, or even irrational about his use of social media and Trump’s aggressive tendency to counterattack (sometimes preemptively), since this has been his only available method of surmounting dishonestly partisan and hostile media.
Media – I don’t use Twitter because it is out-of-control by users and now the owners as they try to censor free speech by superimposing their liberal biases on individual posts.
Civil Rights – “I say to you quite frankly that the time for racial discrimination is over.” Jimmy Carter.
Elections – Democrats have created a National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which is an unconstitutional work-around to bypass the Electoral College in the election process.
Energy - In most markets, solar and wind power survive purely because the states mandate that as much as 30% of residential and commercial power come from these sources..
Energy - Politicians and federal regulators are shortsightedly killing our coal and nuclear capacities without considering the risk of future energy shortages and power disruptions.
Energy – When Germany reduced subsidies to the solar industry in 2012, the industry cratered as capacity declined by 90%, 70% of workforce lost jobs, and solar panels are not replaced.
Civil Rights – If civil rights were legitimate, then we would have White pride, Black pride, Asian pride, Muslim pride, and every subgroup can be proud of its own heritage, including whites.
Feminism – Feminism has been taken over by the Left and is imploding because it only embraces women who subscribe to its narrowly defined political ideology.
Religion - A religion is not a list of personal preferences and beliefs of a particular set of people; but rather is a worldview, a description of reality that defines what is true and what is false, what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is bad.
Slavery – While the European involvement in the transatlantic slave trade to the Americas lasted for just over three centuries, the Arab involvement in the slave trade lasted fourteen centuries, and in some parts of the Muslim world is still continuing to this day.
Drugs – Adolescents using cannabis regularly are twice as likely as nonusers to drop out of school and twice as likely to have cognitive impairment and psychoses as adults.
Civil Rights – “No one has been barred on account of his race from fighting or dying for America, there are no white or colored signs on the foxholes or graveyards of battle." John F. Kennedy.
Foreign Policy – John Kerry has intervened to save the Iraq Nuclear deal which clearly violates the Logan Act, so either prosecute him or repeal the Logan Act as unenforceable.
Trade - The World Trade Organization endorsed billions of dollars in retaliatory sanctions on European imports, including illegally subsidizing Airbus and penalizing Boeing.
Israel – Hamas leaders in Gaza mixed armed terrorists and unarmed civilians urging them to crash through the border fence, as a suicide mission with zero chance of military success.
