Musings on the Week

June 30, 2018

Immigration – “Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life."  John F. Kennedy.

Politics – Progressive ethics” are an oxymoron, devoid of ethical constructs and are political amnesiacs, promising one thing then forgetting inconvenient truths when proven wrong.

Politics – Trump’s claims that Obama’s administration tried to rig the election were widely ridiculed, but now those claims appear to be accurate as revelations provide further proof.

Politics – Democrats have embraced a losing anti-American party platform for 2018 (and probably 2020): Impeach Trump, Open Borders and Amnesty, Guaranteed Make-Work Jobs, Raise Taxes (Redistribute Wealth), Confiscate Guns, and Provide Abortion Anytime.

Politics – Democrats are the party of slavery, bringing into the country illegal cheap labor they can exploit while creating illegal welfare voter slaves.

Politics – The Democrat politics of rage use protests, civil disobedience, boycotts, and now is escalating down a slippery slope toward harassment, denial of service and public assaults.

Politics – Democrat politicians view “ResistanceBrownshirts and Anti-fa activists as their storm-troopers, leading the way to victory in November and beyond.

Politics – The hate-Trump left has gone stark-raving mad, losing all sanity, decorum, and class, encouraging public interference and assaults by hastily assembled mobs to shame anyone connected to the Trump administration who has temerity to venture out in public.

Politics – As Never-Trumpers, like Bill Kristol and George Will, are unmasked, the closer the Republican Party reflects the mainstream America that elected Donald Trump president.

Politics – Republican consumers must learn to use the “power of the purseto reward conservative businesses and boycotting liberal, virtue signaling businesses.

Media – The liberal mainstream media is perpetuating a propaganda ploy exaggerating “Kidtrina to deflect blame from Democrat politicians to demonize the Republican president.

Media – The hysteria over the border detainments is just a political “shiny penny” designed to undermine the President, while distracting from the FBI investigating Democrat crimes.

Media – Axios reports that 72% of Americans think media intentionally reports fake, false or purposely misleading news, including 53% of Democrats and 92% of Republicans

Immigration – “DHS has confirmed that illegal immigrants cost more to keep in the USA than to deport them.” Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Taxes – The money companies stashed overseas to protect them from high U.S. corporate tax rates is flooding back in, boosting growth, jobs and confidence in the economy.

Immigration – Diversity and multiculturalism are both unproven hypotheses whose various implementations across the globe seem to disprove its supposed cultural value.

Immigration – The “zero-tolerance” policy was criticized for separating illegal alien asylum-seekers from their children, so Trump issued executive order requiring detainment of adults with their minors in DHS or other government facilities, instead of “catch and release.”

Immigration – U.S. law permits expedited deportations if an immigrant is apprehended within 100 miles (160km) of the border and has been in the country for less than 14 days.

Immigration – Remittances from expatriates living in America constitute the #1 source of hard currency into the Mexican economy, $30 billion being transferred across the border.

Immigration – The occupation and blockade of ICE headquarters in Portland (a “sanctuary city”) is organized by a group called Occupy ICE PDX (most unemployed radical counterculture rent-a-mob) and backed by Anti-fa, DSA (Democrat Socialists of America), Direct Action, and various anarchists, socialists, and communist fellow travelers.

Environment – In 1988, James Hansen, NASA scientist, asserted the link between greenhouse effect and global warming, but three decades of failed hyperbolic predictions have destroyed any semblance of environmental global warming credibility.

Civil Rights – Regressive racism has come to America and poisoned our most elite institutions from the Democrat Party, to our public schools, media, Hollywood, and universities.

Civil Rights – Minorities (African-Americans, Asian-Americans) are finally waking up to the fact that they have been used by the Democrat Party, but no benefit is ever delivered.

Feminism – In 1972, women reported being happier than men, but each year since women reported happiness has declined, both in absolute terms and when compared with men’s.

Family – Among women high-school dropouts, 57% of births are non-marital, compared with only 9% among college graduates, which largely explains growing inequality.

Education – Schooling, starting in kindergarten, has turned into political indoctrination that harms children psychologically with their gender and race-obsessed identity politics.

Education – Among recent college graduates, around 44% are underemployed working in jobs that do not require a college degree, which just confirms a long term trend.

Crime – The number 1 cause of preventable death for young white men is accidents, such as car accidents, while the number 1 cause of preventable death for young black men is homicide, usually committed by another young black man, not a cop.

Immigration – “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation." Ronald Reagan.

Europe – The European Union’s open border policy is imploding as the impact of a near infinite supply of both economic migrants and asylum seekers is overwhelming countries.

Venezuela – Socialist plans were to use profits from state-run oil to fund a massive welfare state, but central planners were arrogant and hubristic and when oil revenues proved insufficient to sustain their program, they printed money; when the foreign-exchange markets responded by devaluing Venezuela’s currency, they enacted controls on foreign exchange; when prices rocketed out of control, they enacted price controls; when producers declined to produce at those artificially low prices, they seized their assets.
