Patriotism - “Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country.” .
Politics – Obama has set the precedent that no political scandals need be investigated as long as the President has a partisan Attorney General who refuses to investigate.
Politics – We will never know the impact that Obama’s “Rasputin” advisor, Valerie Jarrett, and Clinton’s “Svengali” advisor, Huma Abendin, had on the Iranian nuclear deal content.
Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: Caitlyn Jenner’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award and new photos of planet Pluto.
Politics – AP found Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers are going backward with just 39% of all Americans with a favorable view, compared to nearly half who view her negatively.
Politics – Increased Independent self-identification aligns with decreased self-identified Republicans meaning that new Independents are more likely disaffected Republicans.
Media – The coverage of Campaign 2016 has been a product of too much media chasing too little story, as the media has proven all too easy to be manipulated.
Politics – Ben Carson, Donald Trump, and Carly Fiorina have already been a success in the private sector, so with trust in career politicians at an all-time low, voters do listen to them.
Politics – After all the bluster and political theatre ends, do not be surprised when the real Republican ticket emerges: Scott Walker for President and Ted Cruz for Vice President.
Equality - “Don't expect to build up the weak by pulling down the strong.” Calvin Coolidge.
Debt – Our national debt is $18.3 trillion, roughly 101% of our GDP, which is more than the value of all gods and services produced in the country over the course of a year!
Debt – Chicago’s financial situation is the worst of any large municipality in the nation, as Moody’s recently downgraded the credit rating of the city’s municipal bonds to junk status.
Budget – With 27 states already committed, only eight more states are needed to support a balanced budget amendment before a quorum is attained for a Constitutional Convention.
Pension – The gap between what states have promised retirees and how much is saved is $968 billion, with Illinois (39%), Kentucky (44%), and Connecticut (48%) with the worst shortfalls.
Healthcare – U.S. health care has become a government-directed network of oligopolies dominated by politically protected incumbents, who increase premiums to consumers who have no other options than challenge the regulations that caused the increases.
Environment – A new climate model predicts that solar activity will decline by 60% during the 2030s to conditions last seen during the “mini ice age,” and nothing man can do to stop it.
Environment - The Supreme Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency must consider all costs and benefits when creating regulations of hazardous air pollutants.
Energy – Renewable Fuel Standards and biofuel mandates do more harm than good, having outlived their usefulness, and should be not merely “fixed,” but scrapped entirely.
Education – The Common Core Consortium has dropped from 26 member-states down to fewer than 10, as serious studies have found Common Core academically mediocre.
Civil Rights – It is too bad that African-Americans prefer to wallow in their slave heritage and embrace lowered expectations, rather than addressing the cultural problems causing them.
Civil Rights – The PC over-reaction targeting the Confederate flag has created a backlash in people who view the flag purely as a symbol of Southern pride and military heritage.
Civil Rights – If removing symbols of racism like the Confederate flag is a good idea, then the next step should be to remove the name of ex-KKK kleagle Robert Byrd from 60 buildings.
Abortion – Planned Parenthood has been discovered to be selling the organs and tissues of babies aborted in their self-proclaimed “health centers.”
Sexuality – The extremists of the LGBT movement display all the characteristics of a cult-like religion, including opposing critical thinking, severely penalizing any opposition, demanding complete and unwavering acceptance of its doctrines, putting loyalty to the cult above family and any other institution, including the Church, disallowing any member the right to change one’s mind and leave or seek change without dire consequences, as well as essentially demanding complete capitulation of conscience of doubtful converts.
Defense - “The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten.” .
Defense – The U.S. military is no longer able to fulfill its missions as defined in the 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review, so either the mission must be redefined or military rebuilt.
GWOT – Islamist violence has even stuck in China, but is not well reported, with Middle East trained terrorists at protests and riots that have escalated with multiple injuries and deaths.
Iran – Obama has turned America into a state sponsor of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, and in return Iran promises not a develop a weapon for ten years and for only $150 billion.
Greece – The new Greece bailout “kicks the can down the road,” since it does nothing to fix the underlying problem of spending more than it earns and never paying off its debts.
