Musings on the Week

August 13, 2016

Racism - “I dream that we would one day live in a nation where Americans will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Politics – Gold Star families should be honored for their sacrifice, but Gold Star status does not make their opinions on any issues immune from political criticism.

Scandals – A federal court ruled that the IRS has not yet demonstrated that officials stopped targeting Tea Party and exhibited “discriminatory” treatment of conservative organizations.

Scandals – The highly politicized Department of Justice denied FBI requests to investigate the Clinton Foundation, aiding and abetting influence selling at the highest levels.

Media – During the Olympic opening ceremonies, NBC earned a new acronym of Nothing But Commercials.

Politics - This week’s distractions from the economy, ObamaCare, and terrorism: genetically modified mosquitoes to fight zika in Florida and gender confused athletes at Rio Olympics.

Politics – Voting one’s conscience means voting on issues not temperament: Supreme Court Justices, economic policies, taxes, trade, energy, environment, immigration, terrorism, etc.

Politics – With the major disillusionment of the American voters, it is a possible that in a four person Presidential race between Democrat Clinton, Republican Trump, Libertarian Johnson, and Green Party Stein that the race could be won by as little as 40% of the popular vote.

Politics – Barack Obama proclaimed Hillary Clinton as qualified as he was to be President, which is nothing to brag about since he was the least qualified President ever elected.

Politics - Everything Hillary has ever touched has failed, been engulfed in scandal, resulted in massive investigations, litigation, financial ruin, prison or death and the final stage of any Hillary enterprise is a grand announcement that Hillary did not technically break the law.

Politics – Hillary Clinton’s scandal strategy has always been to deny, obfuscate, obstruct, and cover-up long enough for the public to lose interest and move on to more current issues.

Politics –Americans spend the last 8 years being called racists every time they disagreed with Obama, do you really want to be called sexist every time you disagree with Hillary?

Politics – Trump is the pro-growth candidate, expanding the economic pie and incomes, while Clinton is the anti-growth candidate, shrinking the pie and redistributing incomes.

Politics – The mainstream media is still selling their partisan polls that show a Clinton landslide, and ignore any and all polls that find a reality that does not support their liberal narrative.

Politics – Republican critics are more disturbed by Trump’s crude rhetoric more than Clinton’s long catalogue of policy mistakes, her long history of lying, and blatant abuse of power.

Politics – After defections by RINOs and Never-Trump zealots, the silent, disgruntled middle class will surprise the pollsters by voting for the outsider, Trump, over the insider, Clinton.

Media – Democrats and the liberal media use polls to manipulate and discourage conservatives from voting, but social media sees Trump demolishing Hillary in a landslide.

Racism - “The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation to all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities. Theodore Roosevelt.

Economy – 93% of U.S. counties still have not fully recovered from the recession when factoring in job creation, unemployment rate, GDP, and median home prices.

Economy – Market analysts are trumpeting “better-than-expected” earnings reflecting lowered expectations since aggregate earnings-per-share are on course to decline 3.5%.

Jobs – Increasing minimum wage forces employers to either hire fewer people or give workers fewer hours, as customers end up paying steeper prices.

Regulation – The Obama Administration owns the record for most major regulations, 600 and counting, released imposing a cost of $743 billion or $2,294 on every American.

Housing – The Census Bureau reported that the U.S. homeownership rate dropped to 62.9% in the second quarter of 2016, back to a rate of half a century ago.

Environment – The UN climate change group (IPCC) confessed that the ultimate goal of climate change is really redistribution of wealth and the destruction of capitalism.

Environment - The 1,168 mile long Dakota Access (Bakken) Pipeline has been approved to cross four states and carry 450,000 barrels of oil a day to connect North Dakota to refineries.

Civil Rights – “Critical Race Theory” is based on a false assumption that racism is engrained in the fabric and system of American society and is being indoctrinated in our schools.

Crime – The DOJ report on the Baltimore police drew conclusions without any “evidence” to support them, further polarizing our national dialogue and demonizing police officers.

Racism “They (his parents) weren’t coming (to America) to raise ‘Indian-Americans.  They were coming to raise Americans. Bobby Jindal.

GWOT - Islam is a politico-expansionist movement disguised as a religion using whatever means it can devise: deception (taqiyya), social and cultural infiltration, or bloody violence.

GWOT – Barack Obama is a man who continues to insist military action is not the answer to defeating terrorism, but continues to commit American forces in an awful lot of places.

Venezuela – When governments reduce economic freedom, first under crony capitalism and then under crony socialism, the government ends up redistributing poverty.
