Musings on the Week

August 29, 2015

Immigration - A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.” Ronald Reagan.

Politics – The Republican Party has been a huge disappointment, but the Democrat Party has been an anti-American embarrassment now led by Socialists and Marxists.

Politics – Jimmy Carter has cancer but he survived long enough to see his dubious distinction as the “Worst President in History” inherited by Barack Obama.

Politics – When Obama leaves office, his Democrat Party legacy will be that he will be the only party leader not eligible for Social Security, as no young leaders have been developed.

Politics – Considering increased longevity, it is time for 12 year term limits not only for Congress but also the judiciary, especially the Supreme Court, to limit partisan judicial abuse.

Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: Ashley Madison client hack and American heroes stopping French train shooter.

Politics – All the major polls (CBS News, NBC/Wall Street Journal, Quinnipiac University, Gallup, ABC/Washington Post, McClatchy/Marist, and Monmouth) show Hillary Clinton in decline.

Politics – In 1992, Ross Perot was an outspoken businessman who challenged the Republican establishment who then ran as a third party candidate siphoning off 19% of the GOP voters.

Politics – The Republican Party is looking for an “anybody-but-Trump candidate – probably Scott Walker with a conservative running mate to appeal to the base – probably Ted Cruz.

Politics – Donald Trump is to politics as Kim Kardashian is to entertainment – you can’t help watching her, but you would never want to follow her advice!

Media – The MSM continues to sell bad candidates for ideological reasons, despite ample evidence that the candidate is flawed, policies don’t work, and Americans are harmed.

Immigration - Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.” Theodore Roosevelt.

Economy – The stock market correction is the result of Obama’s Keynesian financial policies propped up by Federal Reserve fiat money collapsing with the threat of raised interest rates.

Budget - The CBO's latest "Budget and Economic Outlook Report" projects that after dropping this year and next, annual deficits will start to climb and will top $1 trillion in 2025.

Finance – Obama has turned a relatively small, privately run, guaranteed student loan program into a massive ($1.2 trillion) government-run disaster, with default rates over 10%.

Budget – Strategists warn that a great target to reduce payments is entitlement recipients, but trying would be political suicide, but unfortunately not trying will be economic suicide.

Healthcare - Since 2014, when most ObamaCare health insurance requirements were fully implemented, the cost of health insurance has increased for every significant demographic.

Immigration – A naturalized citizen should be of "good moral character," able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, possess basic familiarity with American history, been a permanent residence for at least five years, and economically self-sufficient.

Immigration – The anchor baby scam was invented 30 years ago by Justice William Brennan, in a 1982 Supreme Court footnote announcing that kids born to illegals on U.S soil are citizens.

Immigration – The term, anchor baby,” offends some people, so perhapstourist baby,” “drive-by citizenorcitizen in name only” would be more descriptive.

Energy – Obama’s only success is in the War on Coal, driving two dozen coal companies into bankruptcy and raising the cost of fossil fuels to make alternative energy more competitive.

Energy – Clean Power Plan” will do little to improve the environment, but will significantly increase electricity prices, cause frequent power outages, destroy millions of jobs, and shut down entire companies at a time when the economy needs a boost, not a break.

Energy – Carbon trading and carbon offsets are a scam to ease eco-guilt, but not global warming, since it is a swindle that’s being hyped to promote a political agenda.

Environment – The Climate Crisis & Renewable Energy Industrial Complex has become a $1.5 trillion-a-year business with nine segments: low carbon and renewable power; carbon capture and storage; energy storage, like batteries; energy efficiency; green buildings; transportation; carbon trading; climate change adaptation; and consulting and research.

Environment – Leading companies purchase renewable energy, use vehicle biofuels, reduce CO2 emissions, and buy carbon credits, with no measureable effect on global climate.

Elections – Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act requires that states maintain voter rolls, but there are more registered voters than people alive in 141 counties in 21 states.

Education – College campuses are promoting sustainability,” an ideological fad that includes Marxist theories the United Nations wants to adopt to “save the world.”

Civil Rights – Rasmussen Reports found that 78% of likely voters say “All Lives Matter” and only 11% say “Black Live Matter” (includes 31% of black voters).

Abortion – Defunding Planned Parenthood is based on the Hyde Amendment-like intent to barr the use of federal funds to pay for abortion.

Immigration - We must insist on assimilation - immigration without assimilation is an invasion. We need to tell folks who want to come here, they need to come here legally. They need to learn English, adopt our values, roll up their sleeves and get to work.” Bobby Jindal.

UN Agenda 2030, being finalized at the Sustainable Development Summit, is “Agenda 21 on steroids” and not only encompasses climate change, but economics, health, education, energy, agriculture, gender equality and social justice to fundamentally transform the globe.

Military – Now that two women successfully completed Ranger School, an objective, non-political cost-benefit analysis is needed to examine the need for women in combat units.

Middle East - the territory of the Mandate for Palestine is currently under Jewish sovereignty in 17% (Israel), Arab sovereignty in 78% (Jordan) with the remaining 6% the disputed territories.
