Musings on the Week

August 31, 2019

Government - “There is nothing government can give you that it hasn’t taken from you in the first place.” Winston Churchill.

Politics – Communism is theoretically classless and egalitarian, but no pure Marxist systems exist today, such as the former Soviet Union, Communist China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and North Korea, since they all had to introduce some form of capitalism to survive.

Politics – Progressives have no choice but to create excuses that cast the blame for large swaths of black America's lived experience on anything and anyone but themselves.

Politics – The Left in America is powerful, and loud, and it controls academia, most of mass media, and most of the culture which allows it to prosper by suppressing the truth.

Politics – Cultural Marxism is the father of the Democrat Party’s identity politics and political correctness, and transgender insanity and racial polarization, open borders and rights for illegal immigrants, and anarchy and nihilism and movies that portray hunting people.

Politics – Trump’s biggest achievement is getting the Democrat Party to drop their center left pretense and openly embrace their anti-American socialist views, rejecting the Constitution, and embracing and defending their anti-American views.

Politics – When Democrats say they want to make an “investment,” what they mean is that want to take our taxpayer money and spend it on something that will help them politically.

Politics – Democrats are backing away from their unneeded, ineffective, and unaffordable campaign promises so they re-label them asaspirational” not operational.

Politics – Democrat campaign strategy is political “Divide and Conquer” (identity politics), while Republican campaign strategy is “United We Prosper” (United States of America).

Politics – Never forget that the gang of four Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Sanctuary NYC), Ilhan Omar (Minneapol-istan), Ayanna Pressley (Peoples Republic of Cambridge), and Rashida Tlaib (Dearborn-istan) are just told-what-to-do sock-puppets dangling from the Justice Democrats / New Consensus Svengali masters strings.

Politics – Much of the “deep state” is populated with Democrats, leftists, or at best, nameless, faceless arrogant bureaucrats who think they know better than the American people, masquerading as mainly reasonable and nonpartisan professionals.

Politics – Ten years ago the TEA Party exploded on the political scene to bring government back under control, limit government spending, and repeal ObamaCare but has been largely unsuccessful except for awakening unhappy voters to the real power of their Vote!

Social Media – A “social credit system” is designed as a technology-enabled, surveillance-based nationwide program for behavior modification that operates as an extralegal (outside the legal system) tool that uses no judge, no jury, no legal representation and no appeal.

Media – The mass media serves as a willing megaphone for the Left, delivering a constant stream of inflammatory and dishonest rhetoric, thus targeting the emotions of the under informed with a constant diet of incendiary speech and misinformation.

Media – Fact Checkers, such as PolitiFact, Snopes, and FactCheck.org, wield enormous power by actively filtering content removing speech that does not agree with their “truth.”

Media – The American people are far more perceptive about media objectivity than their self-appointed betters, which explains the sinking ratings of the liberal mainstream media.

Taxes – “We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.” Winston Churchill.

Income – Because of unreported income, charity, and non-cash government benefits like Medicaid and food stamps, consumption by America’s poorest 20% exceeds the national averages even in developed nations like Japan, New Zealand and Denmark.

Environment – Current climate models fail to take into account effects of cloud coverage on global temperatures, overestimating the impact of human-generated greenhouse gases, and providing little evidence to support the idea of man-made climate change.

Education – The collegiate social justice warriors are still looking for the six-figure salary their advisor promised, because they cannot even earn a living wage in today’s marketplace.

Sports – The number of high-school boys playing football fell for the fifth straight year in 2018–19, and basketball, baseball, golf, and lacrosse are also losing players.

Family – The 1960s sexual revolution aimed to sever human sexuality from marriage and child-rearing, from the responsibilities society had imposed on the individual sexual appetite, but resulted in fatherless homes, family shrinkage and breakup, childlessness and abortions.

Sexuality – A new comprehensive study of the biological roots of sexual orientation proved there is no “gay gene” and that genetic factors are insignificant defining sexual orientation.

Civil Rights – The New York Times 1619 Project” is an attempt to rewrite history to emphasize slavery but over-emphasizes the impact and significance of this institution within the complex tapestry of the emerging American culture, economy, and political environment.

Crime – When politicians demonize police, the “Ferguson Effect,” less vigorous enforcement in situations that might lead to backlash, results in number of arrests plummeting.

Sexuality – The Boston Straight Pride Parade is still on August 31st and will march on the same route that the Gay Pride Parade marched, demonstrating equal treatment under the law.

Crime – Noncitizens make up 7% of the U.S. population, but accounted for 15% of all federal arrests in 2018, and accounted for 25% of federal drug and property crime arrests.

Diplomacy – “Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions.” Winston Churchill.

Defense – The new Space Force is suffering from a lack of a unified vision and strategy, attempting unsuccessfully to balance tactical objectives with more strategic capabilities.

Israel – In 1967, Yasser Arafat created “Palestinians out of thin air, and now, in 2019, Mahmoud Abbas, to be more historically grounded, has resurrected them as “Canaanites.”

China – It is best to wait until the end of a war to determine who is victorious, so conclusions are very premature in the USA – China “Trade War” as both sides exchange tariff broadsides.
