Musings on the Week
Musings on the Week
September 19, 2015
Government - “Communism has never come to power in a country that was not disrupted by war or corruption, or both.” John F. Kennedy.
Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: Planned Parenthood funding and private sector drone use.
Politics – After six years of repeated miscues and disasters, both domestically and internationally, under a glib egomaniac in the White House, it is amazing that so many potential voters are turning to another glib egomaniac to be his successor.
Politics – Hillary Clinton is trying to remake her image from “scriptedness” to “planned spontaneity,” a scripted attempt to go off script, putting the “moron” into “oxymororon.”
Politics – After Hillary Clinton claimed she provided all of her emails, there are several month-long gaps in the emails, including a two month gap in 2012 during the attack in Benghazi.
Politics – The good news about Bernie Sanders is that he is truthful about what he is and he tells Democrats what they want to hear, the bad news is he is a socialist in a party of leftists.
Politics – Donald Trump’s antics are generating interest in the GOP nomination, but also the one man with the least business in the race is prolonging the time other candidates survive.
Politics – Too many GOP candidates: Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, and Rick Santorum must go.
Media – One reason why Donald Trump is doing so well in the primaries is, after the media’s canonization of Barack Obama, the American public relishes Trump’s contempt for the press.
Media – Both Donald Trump and Ted Cruz recognize the mainstream media as a partisan opponent to be managed, and are not afraid to fight back against dishonest journalism.
Media – The liberal New York Times circulation has decreased so much that it is now behind the more moderate USA Today and the right-leaning Wall Street Journal.
Truth - “The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.” John F. Kennedy.
Economy – The economy is over-burdened with debt and artificially propped up with zero interest delaying the inevitable collapse of the economy as interest rates return to normal.
Finance – The Federal Reserve’s announcement that it will continue to suppress interest rates will continue to suppress the economy and continue to artificially prop up the stock market.
Income – Compensating NCAA athletes will immediately define football and basketball as the 1% money athletes and all other sports as the 99% non-money sports.
Pensions – Chicago is the “canary in the coal mine” when it comes to the pension crisis, as nearly 1 in 3 state tax dollars pays pensions for retired municipal and state employees.
Energy – Neither solar nor wind energy technology is anywhere near capable of producing on-demand, uninterrupted energy at any cost to meet U.S. needs, much less affordable.
Environment – Climate change is a convenient façade to hide a socialist political agenda, since anyone who gets in the way is tarred as a denier of science and a menace to nature.
Environment – The “social cost of carbon” is an artificial cost manufactured to help balance the lopsided cost benefit analysis to justify political costs with no environmental benefit.
Environment – The Earth Summit Agenda 21 in 1992 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are designed to destroy free enterprise and replace with global governance.
Healthcare – Only 16.2 million have actually enrolled in ObamaCare against a projection of 35 million, with the critical 18 to 34 age group under-enrolled (24% vs. target of 40%).
Marriage – Between 1960 and 2011, the share of white adults 18 and older who were married declined by 25%, while the declines for Hispanic and blacks were 35% and 50% respectively.
Abortion – With ten investigative videos release, Planned Parenthood has been revealed as a corrupt organization profiting from selling aborted baby parts, despite being a felony.
Civil Rights – Obama’s legacy is to reopen wounds, pretending no progress made in 50 years, reinstituting solutions to problems that no longer exist and actions no longer needed.
Crime – How many examples of black mob violence and blacks attacking police must occur before the mainstream media recognizes the epidemic of racial hate crime?
Freedom - “The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.”
Foreign Policy – In the last six years, the Obama administration has single-handedly reversed decades of bipartisan American policy, rewarding adversaries while disrespecting allies.
Military - The average female Army recruit: is 4.8 inches shorter, 31.7 pounds lighter, has 37.4 fewer pounds of muscle, and 5.7 more pounds of fat than the average male recruit; has only 55% of the upper-body strength and 72% of the lower-body strength; is more likely to be disabled and 67% more likely to receive a physical disability discharge for a musculoskeletal disorder; and are more than five times as likely to suffer stress fractures.
Military – Despite a study showing that all male units outperformed mixed gender units in just about every capacity, the military must start integrating women into combat units.
GWOT – Islamism is the fundamentalist part of Islam whose cultural backwardness in the modern world has created a pervasive bitterness and humiliation among Muslims.
GWOT – I feel sorry for moderate Muslims because they are lumped together with Islamic jihadists, since there is no way to differentiate between them, just like Germans and Nazis.
GWOT – The Obama administration has admitted 3 million Muslims since 9/11: immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, students, and foreign workers who settled into insular communities.
Iran – The Iranian nuclear deal highlights the disconnect between America’s government and its citizens, since a mere 21% of the American public support the deal.
Iran – The purpose of the Iran nuclear deal isn't to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons technology, it's to assist Iran and prevent an Israeli military attack.
Iran – Obama’s nuclear deal is a mere non-binding executive agreement, harmful for next 16 months, but could be fully renounced when the next President takes office in 2017.
Syria – The six Gulf countries: Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain have offered zero resettlement places to Syrian refugees.
Syria - Who will ask the masses why they didn't stop in Turkey or Jordan rather than recklessly travel all the way to Europe? Who will ask these young men – the vast majority do appear to be young men – where their wives, mothers, and daughters are?
Syria – America should only accept Syria Christian refugees which would rescue them from Muslim genocide while avoiding refugees adding to the formation of American jihadists.
Europe – Considering all the problems assimilating current Muslim immigrants, a new influx of Middle East refugees, including some Islamic zealots, could totally undermine their cultures.
