Musings on the Week

October 4, 2014

Trust – Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” Albert Einstein.

Politics – It took two terms and actual results to be revealed to awaken American voters that they elected a dumber, weaker Jimmy Carter II as their President.

Politics – “There are two parties in Washington - the stupid party and the evil party. Every once in a while the stupid party and the evil party get together and do something that is both stupid and evil. In Washington, that is called bipartisanship.

Politics – Gallup found that the percentage of Americans who have No trust at all” in “The Executive Branch headed by the President” is a stunning 28%, the highest ever recorded.

Politics – Democrats hypocrisy is open for all to see as they are trouncing Republicans on fund-raising, fueled by those “big donors” and “special interests” they claim to despise.

Politics – The term, Obamagate, now includes Fast and Furious, Pigford, Soyndra, Benghazi, IRS targeting, VA mismanagement, etc. – all scandals denied, delayed and obstructed.

Politics – Eric Holder’s most important legacy has been his ability to shield the Presidency from a succession of scandals and resulting cover-ups denying, delaying and obstructing.

Politics – Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s interview exposed her overt role in identity politics politicizing the Supreme Court, demanding she be replaced by another ideologue, and judicial activist.

Politics – The Obama administration punishes those who expose shortcomings, beginning with firing and not replacing Inspectors General and now terminating 11 FBI whistleblowers.

Politics - This week’s distractions from the stagnant economy and ObamaCare: confused ebola reaction in Texas and confusion who the enemy is in the Global War on Terror.

Politics Republicans must not treat 2014 elections as an end in itself because 2016 elections will mark the beginning of a 20 year repair of Progressive damage done to our government.

Spending Never spend your money before you have earned it.” Thomas Jefferson.

Economy – Until the Census Bureau surveys match mainstream America perception, the monthly jobs report will be suspect and tainted by partisan manipulation and spin.

Economy – In his eight years, everything FDR did to jump-start economic growth retarded it, and now, for six years Obama used the same template of big government to stall growth.

Budget – Mandatory spending, including Social Security and means-tested entitlement payments, doubled in last ten years, while “discretionary” spending grew by 49%.

Jobs – One in five workers, nearly 30 million people say they were laid off from a job in the past five years, and one in five workers laid off in the past five years never found another job.

Jobs – According to the BLS, 23.2% of workers (28.9 million) between the ages of 25-54 are unemployed or out of the labor force, which is 3.5 million larger than before the recession.

Jobs – The people not in the labor force, rose to a new record high, increasing by 315,000 to 92.6 million!

Healthcare – A McLaughlin & Associates poll found that three-fifths of likely voters support the repeal of ObamaCare, and 44% want it replaced with a conservative alternative.

Environment – Global warming is in scientific collapse because Earth warming stopped 17 years ago, sea ice is growing, the oceans are not rising, and extreme weather has abated.

Immigration – A Rasmussen polls shows 68% of likely voters say illegals should not have the same rights as U.S. citizens and that 71% oppose benefits for them.

Homeland Security – In 2013, the DHS apprehended 9,862 aliens who came from 15 countries that are either state sponsors of terrorism or considered safe havens for terrorists.

Homeland Security – The hero in the Moore, OK beheading was the fellow employee at Vaughn Foods who shot the Islamic terrorist before he was able to kill his second victim.

Homeland Security – It is unadvertised that 19 airports have out-sourced their TSA screeners with more flexible and cost-effective screening services provided by private companies.

Sexuality – The CDC states, “Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men represent 2% of the U.S. population, yet are most affected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).”

Civil Rights – Eric Holder leaves behind a legacy of political polarization and a degradation of race relations enabled by his selective enforcement of civil rights laws.

Justice – Holder will leave when replacement is approved, but hearings may stall if the lack of ethics, disrespect of the rule of law, and placing ideology first will continue.

Peace – To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.” George Washington.

Foreign Policy – George W. Bush will be remembered as a man who perfectly grasped the problems but offered imperfect solutions, while Barack Obama will be remembered as a man who offered perfect solutions to the wrong problems.

Defense – For the first time in history, Russia has more nuclear weapons (1,643 nuclear warheads in ICBMs, nuclear submarines, and heavy bombers) deployed than the U.S.

Defense – The Anti-War Movement has been revealed as a leftist sham group concerned only when Republicans are in power and Democrats need the perception of public support.

Defense – President Obama has kept himself intentionally clueless by skipping 58% of his Presidential Daily Briefings in his first term and 59% during his second term.

Intelligence (or lack thereof) – The Pentagon responded to Obama’s latest “blame-shifting,” “Either the President doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting.”

Israel It is foolish for Israel to continue peace negotiations with Hamas and the PLO, since both continue their advocacy of total annihilation of Israel as a fundamental belief.
