Return to Common Sense

October 20, 2012

Politics – “I offer my opponents a bargain: if they will stop telling lies about us, I will stop telling the truth about them.Adlai Stevenson.

Politics – In 2008, Obama was called inexperienced, undefined, and incompetent proven by his dismal record, so in 2012, Romney is running on experience, ability, and competence.

Politics – In the swing states, 55% say Presidential ads have "turned them off to the campaign," complaining there is nothing on the candidate’s plans and what they can do.

Politics The lesson learned from the debates so far is when the Obama – Biden ticket is faced by a strong opponent; the Dems have suffered in substance and style comparisons.

Politics – The President can't run on his record, so he is attacking Romney’s plans as a campaign distraction, allowing Obama to never reveal any second term agenda of his own.

Politics The debates have transformed Barack Obama, incumbent, into the challenger, critiquing Mitt Romney’s proposals and conveniently ignoring his own failed policies.

Politics Democrats have over-played the race card, crying wolf at every opportunity, but this call has fallen on deaf ears now immune to baseless accusations used to distract voters.

Media – The MSM continues to hemorrhage readers with political ads in the 2012 election propping them up, but I expect the MSM to begin to disappear – Newsweek is the first to go.

Taxes - From Kennedy to George W. Bush, tax revenue swelled after tax rate cuts.

Government – “Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.Plato.

Economy – Obama did inherit an economy in recession, but his policies did not treat the root causes, but instead made conditions worse and undermined and stagnated the recovery.

TARP – Little known fact is that GM and Chrysler did go bankrupt, even with Obama’s $80 billion bailout, enabled by government corrupted bankruptcy rulings favoring union cronies.

Jobs – Obama claims improvement with 7.8% unemployment, a new administration low, but neglected to mention that 7.8% was the unemployment high under President Bush.

Healthcare – Nancy Pelosi was right that we had to pass ObamaCare to find out what is in it, and now we discover it is not what we wanted, ineffective, and more costly than advertised.

Healthcare – Eight “economically significantObamaCare regulations  include poor analysis, inadequate cost–benefit analysis, and a failure to consider alternatives.

Healthcare – According to the OMB, outlays for the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services alone hit over $1 trillion for the third straight year with ObamaCare making it worse.

Welfare – The federal government spent $1.03 trillion on 83 means-tested welfare programs in FY 2011, which excludes Social Security, Medicare, and means-tested veterans health care.

Education – Home-schooled children consistently outperform their public school peers on standardized academic achievement, avoiding secular indoctrination by union teachers.

Family – Gallup found that only 3.4% of American adults identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, much smaller than the general impression or perceived influence.

Debt I expect that the country’s credit rating will again be downgraded after Congress debt ceiling discussions again fail to find sufficient spending cuts to halt deficit spending.

DeficitI expect one or more states to declare bankruptcy by 2012 and seek assistance to recover from the bad economic decisions of the past under federal judicial protection.

Housing I expect that it will take four or more years at the current rate for the backlog of foreclosures to finally clear, before we see any signs of life of a robust housing recovery.

Nation Defense – “A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country. Texas Guinan.

Libya – The administration is engaged in a blame-shifting cover-up, managed by the White House, to protect the “al-Qaeda is defeated” narrative despite ample contrary evidence.

Libya – The only question remaining is what price Hillary Clinton extracted for taking “responsibility” for embassy security, which took over a month to negotiate?

Israel I expect that Israel will be attacked by Hamas again in 2012 and the IDF will retaliate by invading and then annexing Gaza based on the concept of defensible borders.

Israel – I expect that Israel will suffer a nuclear attack from Islamist extremists by 2012, and Obama will stand aside and not help defend this longtime ally.

Asia – I expect that North Korea will attack South Korea and attempt to reunite Korea by the 2012, and Obama will be an unwitting accomplice as he abandons this ally in a time of war.
