Musings on the Week

October 21, 2017

Politics – “We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who would pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln.

Politics - Pew Research found that the median Democrat voter has radicalized faster than the median Republican voter, and most happened while a Democrat was in office.

Politics - Moving too far to the right never, ever leads to totalitarianism, but moving too far to the left always leads to totalitarianism

Politics – Democrats don’t understand that a constant deluge of hyperbolic predictions only reinforces their loss of credibility since this approach only appeals to the rabid leftist base.

Politics – The mainstream Left is losing its traditional base in the blue-collar working class as it designs its policies to attract the middle-class urban professionals with progressive views, especially in public sector and in the “third” sector of media, NGOs, and the academy.

Politics – Liberalism has become the proliferation of liberal institutions: supra-national bodies, the courts, charters of rights, independent agencies, U.N. treaty-monitoring bodies, etc., that increasingly restrain and correct parliaments, congresses, and elected officials.

Politics - The emergence of new Populist parties, some Left, some Right, some a blend of the two, that challenge the mainstream parties, that campaign on issues that the existing parties have neglected, and become a serious and perhaps permanent part of the political system.

Politics – Intersectionality is the new litmus test by the progressive left: enforce complete adherence to the social oppression spectrum or be demonized for non-adherence!

Politics – Most celebrities are Democrats and hate all things Republican; yet the GOP has the House, the Senate the White House along with state legislatures and governorships galore.

Politics – Voters woke up to find Obama was a Trojan horse, a figure with promise of change who went on to undercut his pledges with lies, and who bent the Constitution to his will via imperial fiat masquerading as executive privilege, resulting in more damage than change.

Politics – Hillary Clinton’s attempt to deflect blame for her election loss to Russia election collusion has backfired and now she is the focus of a Russia uranium bribery probe.

Politics – Donald Trump is adhering to the Constitution enforcing the written rule of law, as evidenced by his policies on immigration, clean power, ObamaCare, and the Iran deal.

Politics – The November 4th demonstration planned by Antifa and its associate organizations remains on schedule, but should be ignored as just another meaningless tantrum/jamboree.

Media – Progressives’ consuming, systematized ignorance, their ideological prejudices and hatred infect the gullible, uninformed American voters (today’s useful idiots),

Media - Knowledge is resistance: to the prejudices of ideology, to the dishonesty of liberal media, to political correctness, and to the despotic will of left-wing activism.

Media – Our mainstream media has degenerated wordsmithing every Presidential tweet and second guessing every utterance now serves no other value than snarky entertainment.

Politics – “Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution.  That must be maintained , for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.” Abraham Lincoln.

Government – Progressive Jerry Brown’s legacy will be the bankruptcy of the California economy and the flood of “producers” out and “takers” in to pollute the demographics.

Jobs – The overall number of Americans collecting unemployment checks dropped to 1.89 million, lowest since December 1973 and down nearly 9% from a year ago.

Labor – Labor unions donated $765 million into Democrat candidates, Left-wing causes, and liberal groups from 2012 and 2016, including Clinton Foundation and Planned Parenthood.

Immigration – If the cost of illegal immigration is $116 billion annually, then the cost to build a wall of $12-15 billion is a bargain and would pay for itself in less than a year!

Immigration About 65% of immigrant visas are based on family ties and 15% on employment, and the remainder is mostly through a lottery for underrepresented countries.

Immigration – Threats only have value if you fear the consequences, so loss of federal funds must be an immediate, direct consequence of any entity declaring itself a “sanctuary.”

Environment – To reduce CO2 emissions replace fossil fuel electricity generation with nuclear generation, which does not emit CO2 and works at night when the sun is not shining and when the wind is not blowing, but promoters of wind and solar demonize nuclear power.

Internet – Google, Amazon, or Facebook are actively expanding their technological reach into new areas putting American consumers at the mercy of these quasi-monopolies

Education – Employers find many of today’s graduates barely literate, and substandard at their jobs, but possess all the “correct” opinions on race, gender, role of government, etc.

Sports – Employees do not have the right to alienate a business’ customer base, damaging the business that employs them, and penalties must include financial and/or termination.

Politics – "America will never be destroyed from the outside.  If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."  Abraham Lincoln.

Defense – The 2018 Index of U.S. Military Strength rated the Navy and the Air Force as "marginal" and the Army and Marines as "weak," due to increased missions with budget cuts.

Defense – Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior despite Obama Administration claims that he “served the United States with honor and distinction.”

GWOT - Nine months after President Trump promised to defeat ISIS "quickly and effectively," U.S.-backed forces defeated their last stronghold, after years of excuses from Obama.

Middle East – The fundamental difference between military strategies: Obama fought ISIS in Syria not to lose, while Trump fights globally to defeat Islamic extremism.
