Musings on the Week

November 4, 2017

Media – “The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.”  James Madison.

Politics – The GOP is not imploding, but rather going through some “growing painsredefining themselves as the party of the American citizens and working class

Politics – An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found that 58% of GOP voters consider themselves primarily "supporters of Donald Trump," not "supporters of the Republican Party."

Politics – The Marxist Left has taken over the Democrat Party, with an obsession towards phasing out national differences and ushering in a globalist, communistic society where everyone is “equal” and individualism is suppressed.

Politics – Hillary’s four million-vote margin in CA overcame Trump’s one million-vote margin in the rest of the country and explains the overall popular vote margin, but that’s meaningless

Politics – It is common knowledge that the Clinton Foundation did very little charitable work and was mainly a slush fund for the lifestyle of the Clinton family and their favored friends.

Politics – The “land of the living dead” is an apt description of Democrats today, who pay to attend book signings by a failed Hillary Clinton, as she awaits her DOJ indictments.

Politics – Mueller finally produced some indictments from his year and half investigation into Russia election tampering, but all he unveiled was financial mismanagement by people prior to their involvement in the election, which sounds like a “nothing-burger!”

Politics – The only people who actually “colluded” to interfere with the 2016 election were the DNC, Hillary Clinton, and the Obama administration, and thus far no indictments.

Politics – The sale of 20% of America’s uranium stock to Russia was approved by Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder and the Obama administration, but this crime has already been buried.

Politics – Democrats are fooling themselves expecting midterm election wins, because American voters are still upset with the establishment and this discontent will translate into expanded majority and replacement of retiring RINOs with die-hard conservatives.

Media – Politico found that 46% of Americans believe journalists make up phony stories to hurt the president and his administration, with 76% of Republicans think the media invent stories about the president and 85% of Trump supporters believe the media concocts stories.

Media – By allowing themselves to become politicized, the media have abandoned the pretense of objectivity and consequently shrunk their potential readership and viewership.

Media – “We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people." John F. Kennedy.

Legal – Non-lawyers hate lawyers because the justice system isn’t about justice, but rather following rules which many times unjustly hurt others in return for money.

Energy – 25% of corn is converted via fermentation and distillation into ethanol mandated by Renewable Fuels Standards, even though ethanol is less efficient than gas and costs more.

Civil Rights – Why do we allow social warriors to visit somewhere, declare being offended by some imagined micro-aggression that they alone feel, then being forced to change something, perfectly acceptable to everyone else, just to suit their political hyper-sensitivity

Gun Control – Now that terrorists have begun running down pedestrians with trucks, will we see the progressive politicians ramping up a “truck control” initiative?

Religion – A majority of Americans (70% of adults) are Christian, with Judaism second largest with 2% followed by Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism each with less than 1%.

Sports – Since 1995, 29 of the 31 stadiums that house NFL teams received public subsidies for construction, renovation or both, costing taxpayers nearly $7 billion to subsidize the NFL.

Drugs – A survey by the Washington Post and the Kaiser Family Foundation found one-third of the people who were prescribed opioids for more than two months became addicted.

Media – “If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.” Thomas Sowell.

GWOT – The liberal media is loath to give President Trump credit for the defeat of ISIS, because abandoning Obama’s asinine politically correct rules of engagement was key.

GWOT - The once-expansionist Muslim Brotherhood is in retreat across the Middle East and North Africa, even in their onetime strongholds of Qatar and Egypt.

GWOT - Only when we recognize that Islamic terrorism is Islam, that the crimes of ISIS were committed to achieve the goals of the Islamic population, will we be ready to face the war that we’re in and to defend ourselves against what is to come wherever it arises.

GWOT – Defeat requires focus on limiting the population of potential terrorists, defeating their sources of inspiration, and fostering a culture that assimilates immigrants into the population.
