Musings on the Week

Musings on the Week

November 7, 2015

Exceptionalism - “The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind.” Thomas Paine.

Politics – The Democrat Party has morphed into a populist party composed of useful idiots who are desperate for leadership to give them more “free stuff irrespective of cost.

Politics – Pew Research finds Democrats tend to have no religious affiliation (28%) while large numbers belong to universalist churches and non-Christian groups, including black Muslims.

Politics – On most contentious public-policy issues (economics, free speech, health care, gun rights, etc.) conservatives tend to be libertarian, but libertarians tend not to be conservative.

Media – The lies and propaganda that the American people are spoon-fed each day by the mainstream media is harmful to the long-term cultural fabric of this nation.

Scandal – The National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration has been caught manipulating historic temperature readings to support their false global warming narrative.

Elections – Based on election results, the progressive strain of Obamaism that has damaged our nation's economy and civic life seems to have crested and crashed; now on to 2016!

Politics - This week’s distractions from the sluggish economy and ObamaCare: release of 6,000 federal prisoners and ISIS human shields against bombings.

Politics – Bernie Sanders describes himself as a Democratic Socialist, and his radical left-wing politics represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party.

Politics – Hillary Clinton is running for President as a trustworthy steward of national interest, but her record reveals her dishonesty, her incompetence, and her lack of responsibility.

Politics – When the FBI completes its email investigation, the only question is whether Hillary Clinton alone should be indicted, or should someone in the White House be held complicit?

Media – The progressive agenda is set by the incestuous mindset of the Big Seven: the three major networks, Time and Newsweek, plus the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Media – Once again the polling industry has failed miserably, because polling has morphed into telling voters what to vote for, then measuring how effective their campaign has been.

Politics – In Kentucky, Matt Bevin, a TEA Party supporter disliked by the GOP establishment may be predictive of the 2016 election, as voters reject Republican establishment.

Politics – Five candidates are polling less than 1%: Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, George Pataki and Rick Santorumtime for them to drop out of the race!

Politics – Five candidates are polling at less than 5%: Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich and Rand Paultime to realistically assess their long term chances!

Media – An obvious fix to the debate partisanship is to only use GOP friendly media venues (Fox News and internet) to broadcast Republican primary debatesStarve the Beast!

Economy – The economy continues to limp along as the labor force participation declines to 38 year low, as more people dropped out of the workforce than the number of new jobs.

Constitution – “The happy union of these states is a wonder; their Constitution a miracle; their example the hope of liberty throughout the world.” James Madison.

Immigration - Of the 929,684 aliens with final orders of removal who remain in the United States, 179,027 have criminal convictions,” according to the DHS memo.

Immigration – Illegal aliens are 3.5% of the population, but are 36.7% of those convicted of federal crimes, including 12% of murders and 20% of kidnappings.

Healthcare – ObamaCare premium costs for the four healthcare plan levels will soar 20.3% in 2016, instead of the 7.5% increase claimed by federal officials.

Healthcare – The World Health Organization released a study classifying processed meat as a Class One carcinogen, and a meaningless warning without merit that can be ignored.

Energy – Biggest obstacle to alternative energy is immaturity of energy storage technology, since both solar and wind energy is intermittent and requires efficient storage for 24 hour use.

Environment – The global environmental movement suffers from repeated, hyperbolic exaggerations of climate catastrophes that never seem to arrive or even threaten to arrive.

Environment – To meet President Obama’s climate goals the nation will have to spend up to $45 billion more each year by 2025 to avert .0573 degrees Celsius of warming.

Environment – Russian President Putin has labeled climate change a redistribution fraud, because climate change is cyclical and the anthropogenic impact is very limited.

Education - SAT tests scores (critical reading, math, writing) were 1654 (out of 2400) for Asian-Americans, 1576 for whites, 1343 for Mexican-Americans and 1277 for African-Americans.

Education – Six years and $3 billion of School Improvement Grants later, the schools did not improve, with two thirds making modest or no gains, and a third actually getting worse.

Education - The Department of Education has tried for the last 7 years to implement the Obama administration’s numerous social engineering agendas and failed, so maybe it’s time to abolish the Department of Education and strip it of the multi-billion-dollar budget.

Sexuality – It is a crime how a group comprising less than 2% of the population is being allowed to insinuate their self-indulgent ideas into classrooms full of prepubescent children.

Justice – There are now 40 federal agencies with more than 100,000 officers authorized to carry guns and make arrests, including the EPA, NPS, BLM, NOAA, and Fish and Wildlife Svc.

Civil Rights – Lacking any real proof of racism, blacks have resorted to faking racism, such as setting fires to black churches in St. Louis, to build the false perception of racism.

Religion – The share of Americans who believe in God has dropped from 92% to 89% since 2007, but the U.S. is still has the highest percentage of believers in any advanced nation.

Exceptionalism - “For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us.” John Winthrop.

Trade – The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free-trade deal is 5,544 pages long, and despite its name it contains favoritism and crony arrangements throughout.

Military – There is a total lack of confidence in the President’s leadership based on a lack of any coherent strategy, much less a strategy that would have any success on the battlefield.

GWOT – Finally the UN Security Council agreed on a common goal to defeat the Islamic State and is considering a Security Council Resolution authorizing the use of armed force.

GWOT – Even though 5 Middle East countries designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization, but the Obama administration has chosen to treat MB as a global partner.

Homeland Security – Has anyone noticed that the University of California at Merced knife wielding attacker was a Muslim and how similar the attacks are to those in Jerusalem?

Middle East – President Obama continues to fake a strategy in the Middle East, sending troops with unclear missions, under-staffed, and with vague rules of engagement.
