Musings on the Week

Nationalism – “Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children's children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” Theodore Roosevelt.
Politics – Obama’s political legacy: 66 seats lost in Congress, 900+ state legislature seats lost, 69% of governorships are Republican, and 90% of voting districts were won by Donald Trump.
Politics - Of the 10 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins (California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut) every single one of them lost population over the last 10 years.
Politics - Of the 10 red states that Donald Trump won by the largest percentage margins (Wyoming, West Virginia, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Dakota, and Idaho) every single one gained population over the last 10 years.
Politics – After dismissing every Republican in every political campaign as a “rabid racist, sexist, and homophobe,” no one listens anymore, other than Democrat sycophants.
Politics – Republican “deplorables” use common sense and intuition to guide their choices, while Democrat “low-information voters” defer to party elites for lock-step vote delivery.
Politics – Democrats have a glaring blind spot refusing to even entertain the possibility that its progressive policy agenda had anything to do with its stunning defeat
Politics – Democrats lost big in flyover country, so Democrats elected Chuck Schumer from New York City as Minority Leader in the Senate and re-elected Nancy Pelosi from San Francisco as Minority Leader in the House, proving once again they are “stuck on stupid!”
Politics – We will never know the total popular vote count, since fraudulent (illegal) votes will never be subtracted and absentee ballots will never be counted and added to the totals.
Politics – I thought some of the first “infrastructure” jobs would be to pave the way for the Clinton-ista poseurs, who vowed to leave the country if Trump was elected President.
Politics – Republicans embrace federalism to negate over-reaching big government, while Democrats embrace states rights as sanctuary from big government enforcement.
Media – The biggest “fake news” during the election was the mainstream media portraying opinion journalism as fact that Donald Trump could not possibly win the election.
Media - Trump should shutter the White House Briefing Room permanently and communicate directly with the American people directly via social media, bypassing the MSM middleman.
Nationalism – “Our country—this great republic—means nothing unless it means the triumph of a real democracy, the triumph of popular government, and, in the long run, of an economic system under which each man shall be guaranteed the opportunity to show the best that there is in him.” Theodore Roosevelt.
Economy – Gross domestic product (GDP) is defined as the sum of consumption spending, investment spending, government purchases, and the net exports of goods and services.
Debt – The national debt is so large that, if the government was able to produce a $50 billion surplus every year, it would take 460 years to pay off the debt.
Finance – How long must experiments run before they can be judged a failure and stopped? This begs the questions for the Federal Reserve and leaving the gold standard?
Finance – Dodd-Frank calcified the credit markets, forced community banks out of business, and unleashed an unaccountable, out of control agency, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and never really fixed the original problem to make banking systems safer.
Finance – Hopefully the new administration will finally get around to reforming, recapitalizing and then releasing from conservatorship the GSEs: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Jobs – The November jobs report shows that more people (226,000) left the workforce than found jobs (178,000), as the number of people not in the labor force surged by 446,000.
Jobs – Two-thirds of job training and job search program participants end up working in a field other than the one in which were trained and with a negative impact on wages.
Healthcare – The real problem with American health care has always been cost, not access, a problem that ObamaCare made far worse, and reducing costs will increase access.
Healthcare – ObamaCare implementation was so slow, convoluted, and painful that the transition to its replacement may be just as painful, but finally more patient responsive.
Environment – Even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels continue to rise, spurring plant growth worldwide, average global temperatures have remained steady for 18 years, and polar and Greenland ice caps, sea levels, hurricanes, floods and droughts refuse to behave in accord with climate chaos claims, computer model predictions, or White House assertions.
Elections – To ensure election integrity, the Justice Department should require a complete scrub of the election rolls to remove all dead, duplicate, and non-citizen voters by 2010.
Education – Ivy League schools have forfeited their excellent reputation as they transformed into over-priced temples of progressivism and degraded their high academic standards.
Civil Rights – African-Americans are experiencing “racism paranoia,” imagining racism in every situation based on a belief in the lie that white America hates them.
Abortion – The most common reasons for abortions are: convenience (postponement, disruption, or relationship), affordability, maternal mental health, or fetal abnormalities.
Nationalism – “The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first and love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life.” Theodore Roosevelt.
GWOT – The inconvenient truth for President Barack Obama is that terror attacks have skyrocketed since he took office, despite his best efforts to appease this rabid rabble.
GWOT – Donald Trump has already outlined a new modernist alliance for civilization in the Jihad War for a religious reformation in the reactionary war ideology of Islam.
GWOT – The United States and Russia plan to jointly confront their common enemy, Islamic extremism – the Islamic State, once President Trump is inaugurated next year.
Iran – The mullahs’ regime establishment is based on two pillars: exporting terrorism and war outside of its borders; and second, the crackdown against dissidents inside the country.
