Musings on the Week

Musings on the Week

December 30, 2017

Taxes – “You can’t be for big government, big taxes, and big bureaucracy and still be for the little guy.”  Ronald Reagan.

Politics – Republicans will be measured how well the economy performs, while Democrats will be measured whether their hysterical economic apocalypse occurred as predicted.

Politics – Democrats had strong roots in the white working class, but it has been transformed into a crypto-socialist party that professes anti-American tribalism, ("identity" politics) as its guiding ideology and subscribes wholesale to the anti-market and anti-private property verities of the leftist environmental movement, whose main ambition is to destroy capitalism.

Politics – President Trump is dismantling Obama’s legacy piece by piece dismantling the reputations of the anti-American cabal of Barack and Michelle Obama and Valerie Jarrett.

Politics – Democrats are trying to convince themselves that they will do well in the 2018 mid-terms election despite having no message, no leader, and nothing to brag about.

Politics – Without solid conservative constitutionalist majorities in the House and the Senate, the President, no matter how well intentioned, will be limited in what he can accomplish.

Politic – Never Trumpism did what they had been talking about and they hate him for it; they much prefer the quiet dignity of losing under a Bush or a Romney to obscurity under a Trump.

Politics – After over a year of investigations, the Russia collusion probe is grinding to a halt, unable to find any crime to pin on the President, and only uncovering Democrat misdeeds.

Politics – There is a theory that President Trump encouraged the Russia collusion probe that he knew would be focused on Trump because he knew there was no crime and therefore no evidence to be found, but it would distract Democrats while his policies were rolled out.

Media – The Democrat media strategy is to encourage the liberal mainstream media to manufacture fake news and then challenge Republicans to defend the Democrat lies.

Media – Donald Trump has show the American people how you can use a free social media tool, Twitter, to out-shout the liberal mainstream media, never letting a lie go unanswered!

Media – Media polls want us to believe that the American people do not approve of Donald Trump, but these same polls also told us that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide.

Media – Rasmussen reports shows Trump at 46% Approve and 53% Disapprove, which is exactly the same as Obama’s ratings at same exact date first year as presidency.

Taxes – “Every dollar released from taxation that is spared or invested will help create a new job and a new salary." John F. Kennedy.

Judiciary – Trump’s crowning achievement in his first year is confirmation of Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, confirmation of 12 circuit court judges, and 50 nominees awaiting votes.

Healthcare – ObamaCare was a 2,000 page law with more than 10,000 pages of regulations and over 20 new taxes that failed to increase life expectancy but took away insurance freedom of choice and greatly increased costs and deductibles.

Immigration – The DHS reports more than one-in-five of all persons in Bureau of Prisons custody were foreign born, and 94% of confirmed aliens in custody were unlawfully present.

Energy – Despite Obama’s best efforts to undermine fossil fuels, the IEA reports coal is making a comeback with a global rise in coal use of 0.5% every 12 months over the next five years.

Environment – The EPA issued a directive to end a 20-year string of “sue and settle” cases that funneled millions of tax dollars into a slush fund for environmental organizations.

Environment – Environmentalists’ obsession with overpopulation proves Orwell’s bon mot that some ideas are so stupid that only a member of the intelligentsia could believe them.

Elections – Partisan gerrymandering illegitimately disrupts the connection between voters and officeholders, and its impact on American democracy is growing.

Civil Rights – The federal focus on equal rights is suffering unintended consequences where 55% of white Americans now think white people are being racially discriminated against.

Civil Rights The #MeToo movement has overreached overcompensating and recognizing every woman who’s ever been touched, kissed, ogled, or winked at as some kind of passive victim and every man with a high libido or an awkward delivery as some kind of abuser.

Religion – America is a country with a secular government but a religious people of many faiths, with all religions tolerated but no established national religion.

Crime – The DOJ reports non-citizens were responsible for 22% of all murder, 18% of fraud, 33% of money laundering, 29% of drug trafficking, and 72% of all drug possession convictions.

Taxes – “Our tax system still siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power and reduces the incentive for risk, investment and effort – thereby aborting our recoveries and stifling our national growth rate.” .John F. Kennedy.

United Nations – The Security Council resolution condemning the U.S. sovereign decision to move embassy to Jerusalem has consequences and is rewarded with a loss of Foreign Aid.

GWOT – Islamophobia” is a Muslim Brotherhood concocted myth designed to discredit and demonize critics of Islam as hysterically alarmist and racist, even though Islam is not a race.

GWOT – President Trump must remember that the Global War on Terror is like “wack-a-mole;’ destroying one group, like ISIS, just spawns a new group just as bad that must be destroyed.

Israel – Once the Trump administration announced plans to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem, ten other countries announced similar plans to relocate after U.S. leadership.
