This a good time to assess what's happened since President Obama rode the wave of hope and change to the White House in 2008. A sober reflection of the past seven years shows that, across the country, change largely has been for the worse and hope is in pretty short supply. The hope disappeared down the hole of governmental regulation. We have reached the point where nearly every aspect of American life is wholly regulated. One need only look to licensure requirements to see how onerous it has become. In the 1950s, one U.S. job in 20 required some form of government license. Today, it is one in three, and that is simply the licensing required to perform a job. The government also regulates when, for whom and where jobs can be performed. For entrepreneurs, the government requires taxes over and above what would be paid when working for someone else. Run afoul of any of the regulations, or pay the wrong amount of tax, and you risk losing the license you need to perform your job. The number of pages in the Code of Federal Regulations has grown by nearly 15% during the Obama administration. As of today, the number of federal regulations that control our lives fills 200,000 pages, and that doesn't include state and local regulations. Before the Great Recession, more than 80% of the working-age population was employed, but today it is just 78%. That difference doesn't seem like much, but it amounts to more than 5 million jobless Americans who have been unemployed for so long that the Bureau of Labor Statistics no longer counts them as unemployed. The President has another year to pull it all together, and in that year, if he wants to reclaim his mandate of hope and change, he might consider a core truth: The right thing for government to do in almost every case is nothing, because the more it does, the less the people can do.

I often wondered if progressives around me live in an alternate reality, because how else can people so fat claim poverty and oppression when citizens of other countries live on less than $2 a day and are so thin, you can count their ribs through their skin? There are quick answers: mental illness; mass hysteria; abundance; lack of jobs; lack of a moral compass; disintegration of families; the MSM telling them constantly that they are oppressed and enslaved to the “evil” white male; too much drug use; and indoctrination in schools to the detriment of history, causing them to lose the ability to grasp reality and to discern real from nonexistent. Liberals have even invented the term “affluenza” in a misguided attempt to excuse bad behavior and criminality of their affluent offspring who don’t understand the difference between right and wrong. When one loses touch with “verifiable reality” and becomes dependent on someone else to interpret reality for them, delusion sets in, a “more primitive stage of awareness” when rumor and falsehood become truth set in stone. Such deluded humans are controlled by retrograde and primitive thinking. Retrogression is caused by constant false information coming from the media, teachers, and the government. If humans no longer think for themselves and don’t verify information against reality, their sole experience comes from dogma. Rational thinking is absent, replaced by submissiveness to ideologies overwhelming them with false information, in this case extreme liberalism, termed “progressivism.” There is nothing progressive about collectivism, communism, Marxism, Maoism, Stalinism, Castroism, and statism. Progressivism should actually be called regressivism, regressing to a failed ideology which resulted in the mass murder of 100 million people. The creative mind is destroyed by turning a person engrossed in a blue screen into a mindless and devoid of feeling drone, an obedient soul, un-adapted and unable to cope with reality, easy to submit to authority, incapable of discerning what is real and what is contrived. Technology saves us a lot of time, extra work, and aggravation. But in using it, conversation and direct human contact have become a lost art. The fascination with smart devices is an addiction with strange sexuality, with unresolved emotional turmoil, with the need to connect with total strangers while dressed in pajamas, with the narcissistic need for momentary celebrity, and with aggressive fantasies. People have died texting and driving, stepping in front of a moving car, into a deep hole, over a ravine, into a pole, while totally engrossed into the hypnotizing blue screens of their smart devices. Our cyber world and real world are interdependent now. The need for speed, for instant communication has altered the thinking process because machines can now do the thinking for us. The thinking process becomes devoid of emotion and creativity. Without the free exchange of ideas which allows for the expansion of the mind, it is easy to see how delusion can set in, prey to the first smooth-talking individual that comes along and mesmerizes the listeners. Delusion can be seen today among some young people who do not understand how deluded they are because they’ve been exposed their entire lives to the same misguided and false narrative, information limited and channeled by the ideology of the left. Delusions are instilled by organizing and manipulating younger generations by Twitter, Facebook, and other MSM outlets that hide reality and only report what they want their minions and followers to know. If a delusion is carefully implanted by educators, it can be quite difficult to correct because these delusions consist of rumors fed as reality, without the opportunity to verify the manufactured information. In totalitarian societies most people are not allowed to be free thinkers and become victims of delusion. Massive and constant brainwashing in schools and universities, fed by continuous propaganda, make it almost impossible for students to view anything objectively. History had demonstrated painfully time and time again that countries and citizens, in which “governments supervised and limited the flow of ideas into the minds of men,” did not fare well. There is a reason why we have the First and the Fourteenth Amendments. Yet free thinking and individuality are under attack by progressive ideologues who pollute the deluded masses with the failed ideas of collectivism, multiculturalism, impossible coexistence with Islam, and the superiority of primitive cultures, all represented in the globalist Common Core standards of education.

The left’s slide into irrationality in recent years should come as no surprise, because there is no way the ideology can be rationally defended any longer. Virtually every claim made by the left has been negated repeatedly, often in the most sanguinary terms imaginable. No reasonable defense remains; all that exists is irrationality. Leftism began amid claims to being the ultimate in rationalism, an application of scientific method to politics by thinkers as varied as Saint-Simon, Hegel, and Marx. Throughout its development in the 19th through 20th centuries, through the Fabians, the British Labor Party, the New Deal, and the Great Society in the United States, leftism held fast to that claim above all others: that it embodied the sole rational method of dealing with political and social challenges. With each step, certain predictions were made, and with each step, every last one was undermined and swallowed by history. In the USSR, occupied Eastern Europe, Maoist China, and Cambodia, failure was accompanied by bloodshed on a scale difficult for millennial individuals to comprehend. In the West, the process was less bloody, but just as thorough. The UK, Sweden, France, and all other social democratic states have been forced to admit defeat. The same occurred in the U.S. with the Great Society and its underpinning programs – federal welfare, urban renewal, the War on Poverty. All were based on the most rigorous rationality, and all were abject failures. The collapse of the liberal/leftist program following the 60s led to a retreat into romantic fatuity, with evanescent claims of “compassion” and decency that were considered to be beyond debate. After 65 million abortions, mass murder and outrage in the inner cities, and the piles of dead generated by the left-supported “Arab Spring,” to mention only three outcomes of leftist policy. “Humanist” Western liberal/leftism may in the end turn out to be even more deadly that the brutalist communist variety. Leftism has entered a Dreamland where anything, anything at all to the limits of the imagination, can be had for a wish. Such a philosophy should be easy to defeat, but, as is so often the case, conservatives are blowing it off. The latest left-wing crusade is transsexuality. Two points need to be made: first, this involves a vanishing minority placed at 78,000, which can be arbitrarily cut in half to get a more accurate number of about 39,000. Second, these people are by definition badly disturbed. They are obsessed with something they cannot have, and insist that the rest of us share in their delusion that they can have it. A cause for pity, at most, but the left has chosen to put these people in the firing line. One telling fact about the transsexual “debate” is that all of the previous research and consideration of the topic have been set aside. It should be pointed out, though it’s often overlooked, that there are a lot more men convinced they are women than the other way around. It’s undeniable than transsexuals are extremely disturbed individuals in need of treatment to help them reintegrate their psyches. It’s no surprise to learn that transsexuals have a 40%+ postoperative suicide rate. These people deserve our compassion and a concentrated research program on how to help them come to terms with their disorder. The problem with conservatives and homosexuality: they don’t know about it because they don’t want to know about it. They view it with confusion, bewilderment, and discomfort amounting to fear. It is alien, it is disturbing, it is irrational. Conservatives too, are slaves of rationalism. The American Left has selected gay marriage, transsexualism, and related elements as causes because they are ridiculous. They have hit on the fact that this kind of thing seriously confuses conservatives. As a result, the LGBT+ movement is the sole leftist component still making gains in this century. You cannot deal with an irrational doctrine on a rational basis. To do this is to verify it. We need to return to the response of instinctive revulsion, the conviction that, as it was once put, “oddities must pay the price of being oddities.” Ridicule, insult, and sarcasm must be the weapons of choice. The left has made itself vulnerable with this move. Nothing good will ever come of its infatuation with the far reaches of the sexual continuum, but to take advantage of this opportunity, conservatism must change its strategies, its practices, and its methods.

To understand ISIS, you have to understand the difference between terrorists and Islamic terrorists. Ordinary terrorists have two goals; to compel the enemy to meet their political demands and to rally their supporters to consolidate their class, race or national identity group behind them. Islamic terrorists are not interested in the “political demands” part, although they will occasionally accept concessions and even offer Hudnas, temporary truces, but no permanent separate peace can be achieved with them. Al Qaeda and ISIS are not “negative” protest movements formed in response to our foreign policy. That’s a foolish self-centered idea held by foolish self-centered Westerners. Al Qaeda and ISIS are “positive” movements that seek to achieve larger religious goals entirely apart from us. They are responding to the Koran and to over a thousand years of history. Osama bin Laden did not carry out 9/11 to inflict harm on Americans. That was a secondary goal. His primary goal was to rally Muslims to build a Caliphate by encouraging them to attack America. Al Qaeda hated us because we were not Muslims, but it was only using us as the hated “other” to consolidate a collective Muslim identity. No dialogue is possible with an ideology whose virtue is premised on seeing you as utterly evil. You can negotiate with terrorists, though you shouldn’t. Islamic terrorists rarely even bother to negotiate. Their core focus is on rallying local Muslims and the Ummah behind them. They don’t recognize national borders so any hope for a permanent peace behind recognized borders is wishful thinking. Islamic terrorism is a race between terror groups around the world to carve out their own Islamic states and then use them as a springboard to a Caliphate. ISIS is the end stage of Islamic terrorism. Its leader is a Caliph with all Muslims obliged to submit to him. The Islamic State is not just in Syria and Iraq. It is everywhere that a Muslim outpost swears allegiance to the Caliph. On its own maps the Islamic State encompasses parts of Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Russia. The more local Islamic terror groups pledge allegiance to ISIS, the bigger it becomes. ISIS doesn’t plan to defeat America through acts of terrorism: the plan for defeating America, like every other country, Muslim or non-Muslim, is to build a domestic Muslim terror movement that will be able to hold territory and swear allegiance to the Islamic State. The idea of an American Emirate may seem silly but consider Molenbeek, the neighborhood in Brussels known as the Jihadi capital of Europe, deemed a no-go zone by local authorities, right in the capital of the European Union. Molenbeek provides ISIS recruits for its war and a gateway for ISIS attacks in Europe. It’s only Muslim immigration to Europe that makes an ISIS base like Molenbeek possible. ISIS has short term and long term needs. In the short term, ISIS needs as many recruits as possible. It is in the West where traditional Muslim ties of kinship and community are so frayed that the transnationalism of heading out to fight for a Caliphate in someone else’s country is most deeply appealing. ISIS aggressively seeks to recruit Muslims in the West because they have the skills, money and naiveté to be useful to the Islamic State. In the long term, ISIS needs more Muslim immigration to the West to create a steady supply of recruits, collaborators and eventually Western emirates. ISIS does not plan to defeat America with terror plots, but those plots will eventually accumulate into an organized domestic terror organization. An Islamic State in America based around a majority Muslim town or neighborhood with its own leader pledging allegiance to the Caliph of the Islamic State. Any Muslim plans for expanding into the West depend on Muslim immigration. Whether it’s ISIS or its Muslim Brotherhood ancestor, or any of the other Islamist organizations and networks, they all require manpower. Some of that manpower will be provided by high Muslim birth rates, but it won’t be nearly enough, not for a country the size of America, without a large annual flow of Muslim migrants. We are told that halting Muslim immigration would only encourage Muslim terrorism, but our open door to Muslim immigration certainly hasn’t stopped terrorism. Instead it has increased it by providing reinforcements to the terrorists. If we can’t stop Muslim terrorism with the population we have now, how are we going to manage it if the Islamic population continues doubling and even tripling? Even if we defeat ISIS today, Al Qaeda and other Islamist groups descended from the Muslim Brotherhood will continue pursuing the same goals. They will rely on the Muslim population in the U.S. to provide them with money, supplies, and an infrastructure for terrorism. ISIS can’t defeat us with terror attacks. The only hope for an Islamic victory over America is through the rise of domestic groups that pledge allegiance to the Caliphate. ISIS can’t invade America; it has to be invited in; and that’s what our immigration policy does.

The mainstream media blindly championed the Iranian deal at the expense of reason, celebrating its “signing” and every prospective step for implementation, but the not-so-surprising revelation is that there is, in fact, no Iran deal. There are just a number of political commitments made by each of the so-called P5+1 countries, in the hope that Iran will somehow reform itself. Iran, on the other hand, seems barely, if at all, committed to the non-agreement. Rather, it is poised to receive international sanctions relief while continuing on its belligerent course. The Obama administration acknowledged in November that neither America, nor the Iranians, nor the other P5+1 members have actually signed the accord ostensibly designed to stall Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons. “The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not a treaty or an executive agreement, and is not a signed document,” according to Julia Frifield, the State Department Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs. The success of the accord “will depend not on whether it is legally binding or signed, but rather on the extensive verification measures we have put in place, as well as Iran’s understanding that we have the capacity to re-impose, and ramp up, our sanctions if Iran does not meet its commitments.” The verification measures that the P5+1 agreed to are a total sham. The administration made concession after concession in pursuit of a deal designed to further President Obama’s legacy—at the expense of the world’s safety. His administration is also bending over backwards not to offend the Iranian regime, while this totalitarian government does everything possible to humiliate the United States. The reality is that the international community is now poised to grant Iran a sweetheart sanctions deal while the regime continues to flout both the spirit and the letter of that meaningless accord. Iran has consistently acted in bad faith. In addition to carrying out ballistic missile tests in October and November, a spate of Iranian cyberattacks believed to have been carried out by Iranian operatives against the State Department, and Tehran’s export of weapons to Syria and Yemen. Iran is racing to fulfill those parts of the accord that will allow it to collect $100 billion in frozen funds and end sanctions on its oil exports and banking system, while expanding its belligerent and illegal activities in other areas, and daring the West to respond. Unfortunately, the Obama administration’s response to these provocations has also been familiar. It is doing its best to downplay them, and thereby encouraging Tehran to press for still-greater advantage. President Obama is reluctant to do anything that might derail the nuclear deal before Iran carries out its commitments, including uninstalling thousands of centrifuges and diluting or removing tons of enriched uranium. The same logic prompted him to tolerate Iran’s malign interventions in Syria, Yemen and elsewhere, while the pact was under negotiation. If Iran was given a pass [on IAEA inspections], it would send a signal to other nations, including North Korea, that their obligations to respond to international investigators could be negotiated away in a political deal. Iran’s parliament, such that it is, approved a deal, but it was not even the same deal that the P5+1 holds out as the agreed upon deal. As Iran gets close to receiving a huge cash reward for its lack of cooperation, deceit, and continued belligerence, the mainstream media still refuse to call this deal what it is: a sham agreement founded on nothing but what Iran says it will be.
