Anyone tracking the positions of the leading 2020 Democratic presidential candidates would think there weren’t any moderates left in the party. Five leading candidates endorsed a Green New Deal that imposes a top-down revolution of American society to mitigate the impact of climate change. When you look at the polls breaking down the actual Democrat electorate, you’ll find limited support for such socialist-minded schemes. What’s so remarkable about this rapid leftward shift is that it’s working against the party’s best interests, both for the individual candidates and their chances of defeating Trump next year. So many candidates are trying to fill the most progressive lane of the party that they’re splitting that share of the vote evenly. At the same time, there’s plenty of evidence that many rank-and-file Democrats are looking for a pragmatist who can actually win the presidency. One of the most valuable deep dives into the American electorate is the Pew political typology survey, which in 2017 broke down the various constituencies within both the Republican and Democratic parties. Among the Democrats, it identified four groups: Solid Liberals (19% of the overall electorate), Opportunity Democrats (13%), Disaffected Democrats (14%), and the Devout and Diverse (9%). Only the Solid Liberals were down-the-line progressives. Most Democrats agreed on a generous social-safety net but were split on the meritocratic view that Americans can get ahead through hard work. The party was also divided on whether to raise taxes on wealthier Americans making $250,000 a year. The strain of economic pessimism is coursing through mainstream Democrat dogma, from Stacey Abrams’s State of the Union response to the various soak-the-rich economic plans seeking to redistribute wealth from the top to the bottom. At a broader level, there is still a significant share of moderate and conservative Democrats in national and state surveys. Gallup found 47 percent of Democrats identify with the centrist wing of the party. Separate Pew Research Center polling found that they run the gamut from African-American and Hispanic voters (43%) to blue-collar whites (30%) and college-educated whites (16%). It could be difficult for one pragmatic candidate to cobble a coalition with such disparate interests. The Democrat march leftward is reminiscent of the nihilistic tea-party lurch after Barack Obama’s election. The grassroots energy helped Republicans win back the House but hobbled the GOP’s attempts at a united front against Obama in his 2012 reelection.

Progressives, liberals, socialists, and communists are scared out of their minds. For decades they have been plotting and scheming to fundamentally change the world and after making great strides they are now seeing their hard work unravel on a global basis. Perhaps some of them even knew way back on election night in 2016 that their reign of terror was over and if they did that would certainly explain their reactions of blubbering and rioting in the streets soon after. Leftists aren’t just losing badly in America it is an across-the-globe phenomenon. Progressives have already lost European countries to conservatism like Hungry, Poland, Italy and Spain. The yellow jacket demonstrations show no sign of letting up and their influence from France has spread to several other countries in Western Europe. It seems like only a matter of time before the European Union dissolves as many predicted it would if Trump won the 2016 election. It is clear that left-leaning political leaders knew that to save their movement the President had to be stopped as we have seen from practically the day of his election and every day since as the left and their sympathizers continue to waste the taxpayer’s money on as many witch hunts as the left can dream up. However, nothing they have done since Trump’s rise to power has helped them in any way, and most of what they have done has exposed them for what they truly are -desperate. In America, the level of desperation is unprecedented. They seem to believe that by alienating and demonizing one specific voting group that they can turn everyone else in the country against them even members of that very group. They also seem to believe that they own the minority and female vote. It will be quite humorous the see the second leftist meltdown in 2020 and very much enjoying the first one in 2016 I for one look forward to it. They have a bunch of lofty ideas but we’ve heard it all before and lived through 8 miserable years of it. There is no way America is going to go back to that mess after the Presidents amazing successes. No one cares about the Presidents taxes or Twitters, what they care about is being able to work and to be safe and on both those accounts, the left not only has nothing to offer but instead they want open borders and take much more of our tax dollars. So polish your coffee cups boys and girls because sooner than you think we will be drinking heartily from the liberal well of tears, so it’s a great time to be alive!

Our nation is on life support and needs your help. Don’t make the mistake of thinking complaining about a problem is the same as seeking to solve it. It may feel good to express angst, but if that’s all we do, our downward spiral will continue. America as we knew it will be over once and for all if people who love our Constitution do nothing more than complain about what's happening. Our nation is at war, and most of us are merely complaining. A growing number of Americans see socialism as sexy, because they are too uneducated to understand what it really is. If we continue to ignore our freedoms, they will go away. Our republic is ruled by a Constitution that matters as much now as it did when it was conceived. There is no perfect form of government on earth, but our Constitution set us on a course to perpetually pursue "a more perfect union” more than any other on the planet. Socialism is nothing more than an attempt to make the government the new God, where we bow down to a set of socialist leaders who determine what is and is not moral, what our priorities are, and that there will be hell to pay if we don't obey. Socialism is the failed experiment to embrace all the benefits of the Benevolent without the benevolence. In the name of "compassion," "equality," and "fairness," the socialist insists that capitalism and capitalists are evil, when the truth is that both the socialist and capitalist have the same core problem, selfishness. Socialism in theory is a glorious thing, but only in the minds of the naïve. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the communists within her party (let's stop using the words "socialist" and "socialism" and call them what they are), simply want to change who is in control. Communists have always had a problem with control, and they always will. Communists rail against the 1% while seeking to become it. They did it before the Russian revolution (and every communist revolution) and they are doing it again, in America. The 1% in control are always evil when they are someone else, but they magically become beautiful when they morph into the communists. It's time to radically reject the idiocy of communist ideology. A communist revolution is underway in America, disguised by the use of the word "socialism," in the name of "fairness." It threatens to do more to unravel the fabric of democracy than we can comprehend, because we have become a nation so unfamiliar with history that we are now poised to repeat it. It’s time to fight with fervor against communism as if your life depends upon it, because it does. Now is the time for all who love the Constitution to stand and deliver with the kind of courageous humility we exercised when we defeated Mussolini, Hirohito and Hitler in WWII. Railing against socialism won't stop that train in its tracks. Socialism is legalized totalitarianism. For those who do not understand what totalitarianism is, it is "a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state." It’s communism with a politically correct veneer. Freedom, as we have known it, will be murdered. A socialist government will replace God once and for all. We should applaud, not assault, those who have the wit and wherewithal to make gobs of money. We should work for less government, not more, so that every American has the chance to discover their own potential to be free and make as much money as they possibly can.
(“Socialism is Sick, Not Sexy” by Michael Anthony dated February 8, 2019 published by Town Hall at https://townhall.com/columnists/michaelanthony/2019/02/08/socialism-is-sick-not-sexy-n2541042 )
A 21st-century take on Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels’ Communist Manifesto was introduced in the form of a nonbinding Congressional resolution which effectively does nothing other than express the sense that Congress should pass a so-called “Green New Deal” whose wholly unattainable goals would almost certainly wreak havoc on the economy and drive the United States further into debt. The term “insane” understates how bad the ideas presented in this resolution really are. Both the Green New Deal resolution and the FAQ document released with it read like something concocted in a drunken haze in a college dorm room. Although it’s certainly imaginative, it’s not remotely close to serious public policy. Although the resolution isn’t a serious public policy proposal, conservatives and libertarians do need to take it seriously, because this is how far to the left the Democrat Party has drifted. When one peels back the initial layer of green, the same tired and failed ideas of socialism are there. The resolution begins with basic findings from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as though it was handed down from God to Moses on Mount Sinai on stone tablets. Unfortunately, many of the IPCC’s previous claims have already been proven wrong. Eventually, the resolution offers a long list of things Congress should do in a so-called “Green New Deal.” The resolution is chock full of policy recommendations that radical environmentalists have long demanded, including “achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions” by eliminating fossil fuels, and eliminate nuclear energy. The goal of this aspect of the Green New Deal is to transition the economy to renewable energy, but if that sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. The difference between the Paris Agreement and the Green New Deal is that the Paris Agreement, by comparison, wouldn’t have been nearly as economically destructive. Americans have a love affair with their vehicles, but under the Green New Deal, that car you’re so proud of would be banned. Since the economy will transition away from fossil fuels, your gas-powered vehicle must be given up for an electric vehicle. Congress must also invest heavily in high-speed rail, even though high-speed rail has proven to be nothing short of a boondoggle in the United States. International travel would, presumably, alos become impossible. Those occasional steak dinners you enjoy might be a thing of the past, too. Although the resolution doesn’t explicitly say this, the Green New Deal FAQs document, no joke, states that the sponsors of the resolution “aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.” Another wild idea from the resolution is the goal of “upgrading all existing buildings in the United States and building new buildings,” with the goal is to “upgrade or replace every building in U.S. for state-of-the-art energy efficiency.” The cost of this would be immense. The Green New Deal resolution also includes other leftist policy priorities, such as guarantees of “high-quality health care,” “safe, affordable, and adequate housing,” and “economic security” (FAQs document defines “economic security” as those who are “unwilling to work.” If you’re completely able-bodied, but you’re too lazy to work, the producers in the economy will pick up your tab. Finally, there’s the cost of this incoherent, ridiculous monstrosity. The Green New Deal resolution calls for heavy “investments” by the government. In 2019, the CBO projects that federal spending will consume about 20.8% of GDP, or about $4.4 trillion. It appears that the resolution is suggesting that Congress more than double federal spending, pushing federal spending around $9 trillion to cover the cost of this unrealistic, incoherent, and absurd plan; so this will be a very hard sell to the American public.
