After the GOP lost the House, I predicted the big winner of the November midterms would be President Donald Trump.  My November prediction has proven 100% accurate.  Back then, I prophesied that if Democrats got in charge, they would embarrass themselves, expose themselves and destroy themselves, since the craziest and most radical Democrats would no longer be hidden.  The best thing that ever happened to Trump was Democrats taking the House.  President Trump now has 50% approval according to always-accurate Rasmussen Reports; higher than Barack Obama's 48% at the 24-month mark of his presidency.  Trump is just about the most popular he's ever been, even after the longest government shutdown in American history.  The more Democrats appear in the media, the more popular Trump becomes.  Democrats are in charge and their craziness is out in the open for everyone to see.  The Democrat Party is dangerous, extreme, radical, reckless and really, really crazy.  Freshman Democrat Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American Muslim member of Congress, has been lashing out at Jews in anti-Semitic tirades.  She seems to think there is no difference between Israel and Iran.  She accused pro-Israel groups of bribing Congress.   The Democrats who run Virginia are trying to top her.  The governor chose a photo of someone in blackface and someone in a KKK hood for his medical school yearbook page.  The attorney general had to resign from a national AG organization for his own blackface episode.  The lieutenant governor is accused of sexual assault by two women.  Let's not forget that the Virginia governor and his fellow Democrats tried to pass a bill allowing third-trimester abortions: mass murder glorified as "pro-woman" by Democrats.  But the best is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who  is the new queen of crazy.  She just released her Green New Deal, which read like a "Saturday Night Live" comedy routine or a parody by The Onion.  A draft version of the proposal demanded "total economic security" for those "unwilling to work."  It envisioned the elimination of air travel and of cars, boats and military vehicles that use gas.  It proposed retrofitting every single building in America and the end of cow farting.  Ocasio-Cortez later walked back some of this absurdity, but now I know why she and her fellow Democrats wore white at the State of the Union.  Clearly, they all were given a day pass from Bellevue Mental Hospital.  Please, Democrats just keep talking, because you're the best thing to ever happen to President Trump, and all this talk will deliver Trump a landslide in 2020.

With the exception of a few subcategories, there are basically three components that constitute today's Democrat Party.  There's the new breed that calls themselves “Democratic Socialists” who truly believe in socialism; old-school Democrats that act as if they believe in the Democratic Socialist agenda in order to stay in vogue; and leftist ideologues that want to do whatever they can to undermine and destroy the founding principles of The United States.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the face of the Democratic Socialists who have been indoctrinated with falsehoods and now suffer with misguided beliefs about socialism in part because of the ideals of youth, a fraudulent education and/or the inability to conceptualize beyond simple rhetoric.  Sandy O appears to be having a good time, having her "Green New Deal" talked about and adopted by fellow Democrats, not to mention joked about by serious economists.  Her swift emergence out of nowhere to become a major force in the Democrat Party is the product of a strategically fraudulent past and negligent opposition reminiscent of another Democrat named Barack Obama.  So this not-ready-for-primetime member of the Democratic Socialists of America hailing from New York's 14th congressional district has become the face and future of the Democrat party.  A party that now embraces the merging of South America, Mexico, and the United States, a party that espouses economic warfare on successful members of society, and emptying hard-earned cash from the pockets of taxpayers to pay the expenses of people "unwilling to work."  Why her radical ideas are being received is that they have never before been so openly expressed by elected officials, not even by the 2016 Presidential socialist candidate Bernie Sanders.  What has made the absurd conclusions from an immature and illiterate person believable and accepted is the absence of any real media, a position now being filled almost exclusively by leftist late-night comics and fake-news propaganda specialists assisted by an unchallenged leftist education system and weak religious leadership.  Sandy O poses a conundrum for Democrats.  She is the perfect distraction from the realities of their failed coup attempt, but is also leading the Democrat Party on a certain path of destruction, alienating every independent voter and jeopardizing any chance of a realistic run in 2020.  In any event, Ocasio-Cortez will inevitably have her day of reckoning, because with no real substance and a slew of assured economic missteps in the future, either the novelty will wear off or some level of sanity or at least self-preservation will once again enter the Democrat Party.

Ask your neighbors and coworkers whether it's a privilege to be an American, and nearly all of them will answer with a resounding "yes."  The new leaders of today's Democrat Party see American privilege as a mass delusion standing in the way of their political ambitions.  This was painfully evident during President Trump's State of the Union address (SOTU).  American exceptionalism is so everlasting that most presidents can find something in the national condition worth boasting about, and even their political opponents find something in the boasts worth applauding.  Having presided over the strongest economic expansion in generations, President Trump's speech had no shortage of achievements, and the response of ordinary Americans was electrifying.  According to a CBS News poll, 76% of Americans who saw the SOTU speech approved of it.  However, the response of Democrat lawmakers who attended the speech flew in the face of our political traditions particularly that of a bloc of congresswomen wearing white to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote.  The "women in white" leered with contempt at the president throughout his speech.  They ignored his call for unity and bipartisanship.  About half refused to join the rest of the chamber for a standing ovation when President Trump called upon the American people to "embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good."  They sat stone-faced when the president touted the lowest ever unemployment among minorities and the disabled.  They ignored his praise of new "right to try" legislation giving terminally ill patients access to experimental medicines.  They also ignored that America has become a net exporter of energy for the first time in 65 years.  They remained somber even when President Trump announced his Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative, which promotes the economic empowerment of women in developing countries.  Only when President Trump specifically hailed the achievements of American women, filling 58% of new jobs last year and being elected to Congress in record numbers, did members of the group feel obliged to stand en masse to applaud themselves.  Proponents of the socialist Green New Deal, which now has the support of six presidential candidates, 12 Democrats in the Senate and 70 in the House know that Americans will not accept a one-size-fits-all blueprint for centralized planning of their lives and livelihood.  For all of their divisive rhetoric and mainstream media adoration, Ocasio-Cortez and her ilk aren't likely to convince a majority of the U.S. public that the American dream is a lie, at least not in time for the 2020 election.  They may convince enough people to enflame the social chaos and division we have been experiencing lately and that might set a prelude one day for realization of their socialist fantasies.  President Trump is right that the state of our union is strong, economically and militarily, and a majority of Americans embrace his call to "step boldly and bravely into the next chapter" of this country's glorious history.

Republicans toiling to re-elect President Trump are freshly optimistic, confident a Democrat Party dominated by ambitious progressives is scaring wayward factions of the conservative coalition back into the fold.  With a midterm election rebuke and disastrous government shutdown in the rear view, Trump’s 2020 campaign team and constellation of key outside supporters are sensing a turnaround.  The president hasn’t changed his controversial ways. But Trump’s top lieutenants believe that newly empowered liberal Democrats plus the sometimes peculiar spectacle of the Democrat primary, are causing uneasy Republicans to reconsider their opposition.  Democrats flipped 40 seats in the House of Representatives in November, winning control of the chamber in a direct backlash against Trump.  That was followed in late December with a politically ill-fated government shutdown pushed by the president over the Mexican border wall.  Trump’s job approval ratings have since bounced back to an average of around 44%, the higher end of the range over his presidency.  Some ardent critics have even dropped their opposition to his re-election or said they could be persuaded to vote for him.  Republicans are giving the lion’s share of the credit to the Democrats.  In Washington, the Democrat Party activist wing has proposed a “Green New Deal” to overhaul U.S. climate policy, aggressively redistribute wealth via the tax code, and greatly expand government influence over energy usage and transportation.  In the states, Democrat-controlled legislatures have moved to ease restrictions on late-term abortions.  On the campaign trail, Democratic presidential contenders are competing for progressives by endorsing these policies and more.  Suddenly, Trump looks less problematic to Republicans uncomfortable with his character and belligerent behavior.  The people who find reasons to be uncomfortable with the president but like the general thrust of his policies are scared as hell that Venezuela is trying to get into the White House.  Trump’s overall approval numbers with self-identified Republicans are historically high, and his support among the GOP base is rock solid.  The president’s relationship with critical elements of the traditional wing of the Republican Party is less secure.  These voters were a crucial part of the coalition that helped put him over the top in key battlegrounds.  Trump’s allies don’t appear that worried, because they expect the Democrat primary to produce a nominee unpalatable for this group.
