Something funny is happening with the much-hyped “blue wave” on the way to the fall midterms.  That wave of Democrat candidates that is supposed to sweep away the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives is completely detached from reality.  The numbers now tell a different story.  Democrats entered 2018 with a double-digit lead in the congressional generic ballot, upwards of 15% in some polls. In the most recent Reuters’ poll, Republicans now lead by more than 6% generically.  Democrats right now are in a position mirrored almost exactly in May 2014, when they held a one-to-four-point lead on most generic ballots.  Unfortunately, Democrats ended up losing 13 seats.  The dynamics of 2018 are different.  President Trump is a volatile and polarizing figure. Nearly 40 Republican incumbents, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, are retiring.  Nevertheless, as we consider the “great and awesome” blue wave in 2018, it’s worth remembering the Tea Party wave of 2010.  That year, 85% of House incumbents won.  Put in perspective, that supposed seismic election was the worst reelection average for House incumbents in the last 40 years.  It’s not unusual in most off-year midterms for incumbents to have a 94%-98% re-election rate.  As a number of Republicans retire and choose not to run, the party has lost the power of incumbency in dozens of seats, making it the perfect time for Democrats to snatch up the 23 seats they need to seize the majority.  There are other factors to consider: the Republican National Committee is flush with over $43 million in cash on hand and promising to put many more field staff into targeted districts, while the Democrat National Committee is more than $5 million in debt.  Add the fact that the Republican Congressional Leadership Fund has been working districts for over a year now, doing targeted voter outreach with an army of 4,000 people, and the “blue wave” narrative isn’t looking so swell.  Then there’s a new narrative building.  Voters right now are starting to give Trump more and more credit for the economy, with nearly 70% crediting him with its success.  Top issue for voters in the midterms is still the economy, stupid, not Russia or Stormy Daniels.  Impeachment is one issue that will really fire up the Trump base.  Yet there is a very real element of the Democrat base that is clinging to the Russia collusion fairytale and demanding 2018 be about the impeachment of Donald Trump.  Speaking of Russia, the overarching narrative on a variety of related issues could very well change, from unmasking to the Steele Dossier and FISA abuse to massive abuses by partisan elements in the Justice Department, FBI and elsewhere in the U.S intelligence community that could dwarf the Watergate scandal.  As the committees in the House and Senate keep digging, we are sure to uncover more questionable behavior from the investigators who spied on the Trump campaign.  Now, as the Cook Political Report moves more districts back into either “toss up” or “safe Republican” territory, that gurgling sound, which is growing louder by the week, is the “blue wave” going down the drain.  My prediction: I don’t believe the Democrats will take back the House, although they may gain 15-20 seats; and with the Senate map being a brutal one for Democrats, they’ll likely lose seats in the Senate.  Democrats will find themselves in the minority after November 8, staring into a bleak future, experiencing a gut-wrenching, soul-crushing moment, with the horror of a Trump re-election in 2020 staring right back in their faces.

Politics is sales and it's the perception of a potential blue wave, not the reality, that will either drive America First voters to the polls or keep them home.  Don't underestimate the perception among Democrat voters that the blue wave is real.  President Trump has kept most of his promises, and our nation needs lawmakers who will fulfill the promises they make as candidates.  An elected leader's word must be his bond with his constituents.  President Trump seems to be the only Republican consistently hammering home the importance of getting out to vote Staying home on Election Day, in most parts of the country, is a vote for the Democrat candidate.  Reliably red states continue to decrease in number.  Earlier this year, Alabama voters elected the first Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1992.  Look farther, and you'll find Democrats winning congressional districts that haven't been blue in decades and were also districts that Trump won comfortably.  With their Democrat big cities, Florida and Tennessee are purple states; each of Florida's four largest counties (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Orange) has more registered Democrats than Republicans, but more registered independents than Republicans.  Florida is a state chock-full of Never-Trumps, as well as Marco Rubio and Jeb! Bush sycophants.  Even Texas is moving in the purple state direction.  If only Texas's four largest cities (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin) voted, the Lone Star State would be as blue as California and New York.  We can make excuses, or we can win elections, but we just can't do both.  There is too much at stake to stay home on Election Day.  In 2009, President Obama was fond of reminding the losing side that elections have consequences, which was his way of saying: I won, you lost, and I don't need to work with you; you need to work with me.  Now that the Democrats are on the losing side, they're out for blood, and they have two goals: to impeach and remove President Trump from office, and to conquer the country.  Had Hillary Clinton won the 2016 presidential election, the Democrats would have never lost the presidency, Supreme Court, federal circuit courts, or federal courts of appeal ever again.  Making matters worse is the constant opposition to the president from a handful of Tessio Republicans in the House and Senate, where the GOP majority is already razor-thin.  Showing up and turning out is all that ultimately matters in politics; a formidable campaign operation, comprising effective and targeted messaging and staffers and volunteers who canvass door-to-door, belly button-to-belly button, is non-negotiable.  All that counts in the end is the final count.  The Democrat Party is morphing into a full-scale European Union-style socialist party, which is precisely what the Democrats' voters want, as evidenced by the popularity of Vermont senator Bernard Sanders during the 2016 Democrat Party primaries.  America First Republican and independent voters must exceed the Democrats' enthusiasm and intensity in the 2018 midterms and beyond.  Low margins of victory cannot be the goal; that's playing not to lose.  Playing to win means playing scared and running up the score.  More than ever, American voters desire elected leaders who embody the philosophy of America First: national prosperity, national defense, and national sovereignty, nationalism rather than collectivism or globalism.

When English statesman Edmund Burke referred to the journalists of his time as the “fourth estate,” it was a term of esteem.  To be a member of the press was a high calling, a great responsibility, and an honor.  The press existed to report news but, maybe more importantly, they were called upon to keep those in power honest.  However, the news media of today has abdicated that position of respect, and no longer are they the fourth estate; instead, they’ve become a fifth column.  The mainstream media has completely betrayed the trust of the American people. ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN aren’t even feigning objectivity anymore.  Instead of being the guardians of a free nation, they’ve become nothing but agenda-driven shills for leftist ideology.  They are propogandists worthy of comparison to Nazi Joseph Goebbels or Pravda when it was an arm of the Soviet Central Committee.  Hillary Clinton likes to blame her election loss on so-called fake news, those click-baiting non-stories that appear on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Fake news isn’t the real problem, since people are only attracted to sham stories because they no longer trust the media to tell them the real stories.  Not only are stories on mainstream news reports biased; they are often mistake-ridden.  In the past few years, there are dozens upon dozens of examples of factual mistakes in the mainstream media.  CNN has had to issue multiple corrections on their ongoing Trump-Russia collusion reporting.  ABC’s Brian Ross was suspended for mistakenly reporting that President Trump ordered former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to make contact with the Russian authorities.  So, not only are the mainstream media biased, they’re also incompetent.  Headlines and scandalous snippets that the news shows can flash on chyrons trump facts, and they are what is important to the mainstream media.  They eschew fact checking in favor of sensational headlines.  They create salacious news narratives, meant not to inform but to sell advertising.  From March 7 to April 30 of this year, CNN interviewed Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Trump, an astounding 59 times, more than once per day.  The former porn star’s lawyer has been interviewed on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and the Fox News Channel 147 times between March 7 and May 15.  President Trump’s alleged consensual relationship with Daniels is more than 11 years in the past, yet it seems that this is the most important news story since the Kennedy assassination or the September 11 attacks.  The American people seem to be catching on to the fact that the mainstream news can no longer be trusted. A 2017 Gallup/Knight Poll on media trust showed that only 44% of respondents thought they could name one objective news source, and 65% believed that bias in the reporting of news is a major problem.  Nearly 60% don’t believe the media does enough investigative reporting to uncover certain facts.  The MSM has no one to blame but themselves for those poll numbers.  They have become not only biased, but lazy.  Journalism is a tough business.  Much too tough for this current crop of slothful leftists parading as reporters.  Living in an echo chamber of their own creation, they have decided that their personalities are more important than the news they pretend to report.  In 1960, JFK’s FCC Chief Newton Minow famously described television as a “vast wasteland.” Today, the vast wasteland has become a reeking sewer, and it’s not getting better any time soon.

According to the Media Research Center, broadcast television news coverage of President Trump was 90% negative in the first quarter of 2018.  This is not an aberration for the negative coverage has been constant since Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign on June 16, 2015.  On a daily basis, the liberal media present a sustained flow of Trump hating garbage masquerading as news reporting, which has become not only a hallmark of the broadcast news programs, but it also the type of biased “Trump coverage” presented by major newspapers and cable news outlets.  The only exceptions are Fox News, conservative Internet sites and talk radio.  With this animosity being presented on a constant basis, it is little wonder that some unhinged leftists have taken the next step and actually threatened President Trump. Certainly, some Trump haters have been aroused into a frenzy.  For example, actor Johnny Deep “joked” about assassinating President Trump. Comedian Kathy Griffin imitated jihadists and posed with the “decapitated head” that looked just like Donald Trump.  Award winning actor Robert DeNiro has regularly boasted of wanting to punch Donald Trump “in the face.”  CNN is a network that spends countless hours promoting Russian conspiracy theories and the Stormy Daniels controversy.  CNN executives should feel plenty of guilt about their horrific coverage of President Trump.  Their hosts regularly disparage, mock and lambast the President.  Sadly, the problem is not limited to CBS or CNN as the vast majority of our mainstream news media does not show basic respect toward President Trump.  During the Obama years, Americans were constantly lectured about the need to show respect toward the presidency even if we disagreed with his policies.  The media loved President Obama and treated him with kid gloves, but all of this dramatically changed with the election of President Trump.  The more the liberal media bash the President, the greater the number of threatening incidents is reported.  Thankfully, the U.S. Secret Service is doing an amazing job of protecting the President, but the media is making their job much more difficult.  Going forward, Americans can only hope that the media will tone down their anti-Trump coverage because the results have not been positive for the country.  It has led to an environment in which 71% of Democrats want to impeach the President, while the vast majority of Republicans strongly support him.  Sadly, the media helped create this unprecedented political division.  With the media and Democrats so focused on criticizing President Trump, more Americans are tuning out the coverage.  The ratings for CNN are dramatically down, as the network is just preaching to the liberal choir.  In contrast, the approval rating for President Trump is steadily improving as more Americans are starting to realize this impeachment mantra is ridiculous. The President has not been accused of committing any crimes and there has been no evidence discovered of actual Russian collusion.  The truth is actually coming out, despite the best efforts of the media and the deep state.  When the real story is uncovered about this fictional collusion, the anger will no longer be directed at Donald Trump, instead outrage will be directed at the media and their allies who committed this injustice and placed their political biases above their obligations to be truthful with the American people.

(“Media Fuel Leftist Hate of President Trump” by Jeff Crouere dated May 19, 2018 published by Canada Free Press at https://canadafreepress.com/article/media-fuel-leftist-hate-of-president-trump )

I used to be a doubter who would cringe, just a little, at any mention of “the deep state.  It all seemed a little far-fetched to me that there was this cabal of careerists conspiring from within the government to harm President Donald Trump when I first heard it.  I never doubted there were individuals doing it, but a wide net of conspirators seemed like something out of a bad movie more than anything that could actually happen in the United States.  I was wrong because the deep state is real.  There is much more than just this small group of powerful people working toward a common goal, there is an entire infrastructure created by the left not only to destroy Trump, but to indoctrinate unsuspecting Americans into their agenda.  As the curtain is pulled back on the Obama administration’s unprecedented efforts to spy on the Trump campaign, there is a good possibility many of the perpetrators could face criminal charges, or at least should.  It’s important to understand that liberals didn’t just create this out of the blue in 2016, it’s the culmination of everything they’ve worked toward for decades.   The infrastructure they used to spy on the Trump campaign was something inherently governmental, simply planting a mole in the campaign couldn’t tap phones or access emails.  The ability to cover up that fact requires a level of media complicity that takes time to create.  Getting the desired message out is only part of the battle, it has to be believed by a significant percentage of the public for it to really matter.  Conditioning the public to be receptive to that message, without questioning how it came about or why they should care required subtle indoctrination over a lifetime.  As it stands, liberals have that infrastructure in place, they had that support system ready to go.  They would’ve gotten away with it were it not for the existence of conservative media.  The Rush Limbaughs, Matt Drudges, Sean Hannitys and Tucker Carlsons, Townhalls, Daily Callers, Free Beacons, and Washington Examiners of the world questioning the official story, even when it seemed crazy to do so, is helping to expose what was done in the case of the Trump campaign.  That the media is in the tank for liberals is as shocking as the sun rising in the east, how they find a receptive audience is the real problem.  An educated and skeptical public wouldn’t have so many people who so easily swallow the liberal’s hook, let alone the line and sinker.  Liberals have conditioned people to accept what they’re told through a corrupt public education system that offers political spin as fact and focus the idea liberal thought as “tolerant.”  Through so-called experts, elevated by simply putting them on TV and giving them impressive sounding titles like “analyst” or “strategist,” the public can be led to believe just about anything.  Also lurking is Hollywood, churning out “message movies” and “documentaries” that would make Leni Riefenstahl blush over their blatant propaganda value.  Take a look at the documentary offerings on Netflix and you’ll see stories about how climate change is going to kill us all, our food is poisoned, businesses and private property are evil, only surpassed by Republicans corruption and the granddaddy of them all, how Donald Trump is history’s greatest monster.  The deep state is real, but it does not exist in a vacuum.  Not just government, but nearly every aspect of public life has been corrupted, in ways both obvious and subtle, to serve the liberal agenda.  None of this is by accident, and it didn’t start on November 8, 2016, it just sprang into action.  Nearly every aspect of life, to one degree or another, has been or is ready to be weaponized against anyone who dares to stand up to the liberal agenda.  None have stood up to it in a more threatening way than Donald Trump.  The clock is ticking, the fuse is burning down low.  It’s important to remember it’s just one small piece of a much larger puzzle. There are other, bigger and equally dangerous parts in need of exposure and destruction.  Learn about them all before it’s too late so we can destroy the whole deep state and the machine that feeds it, once and for all.

(“The Deep State is Bigger Than You Know” by Derek Hunter dated May 20, 2018 published by Town Hall at https://townhall.com/columnists/derekhunter/2018/05/20/the-deep-state-is-real-and-much-bigger-than-you-know-n2482458 )

The Trump era has exposed the dark, vindictive, and oppressive side of liberalism, but that side has always existed.   "Progressives," as they prefer to be known, have a long history of extremism going back to Woodrow Wilson's Sedition Act of 1918 and FDR's many power-grabbing activities, including the 1937 attempt to pack the Supreme Court.  Progressive thinking, because it attempts to impose an extreme vision of society on a public that resists its measures, is by its very nature authoritarian, antidemocratic, and elitist.  Liberalism is not the "party of the people," as it has long claimed to be: it is, rather, a despotic philosophy that because of its intention of imposing "advanced" thinking on the masses can govern only through deceit and force.  Because President Trump is reversing many Obama-era initiatives, the left's hostility toward him is unprecedented.  Progressives are becoming increasingly rigid in their thinking – and increasingly aggressive toward any who disagree with them.  The left's opinion of the president, echoed in every left-leaning corner of the media, is that he is illegitimate; incompetent; racist; sexist; and, in some vague and inchoate sense, "fascist."  Because they view President Trump in these extreme terms, progressives view themselves not as violent extremists, but as "the resistance."   This progressive resistance began just seconds after Trump was declared the victor on election night.  The resistance was not engendered by anything Trump had actually done; it was just a refusal to accept any candidate who varied from the left's own line of thinking.  That sort of reaction, reminiscent of what happened with the election of George W. Bush, is a dangerous turn in American politics.  It implies that the left refuses to accept any political action that does not accord with their own ideology.  The left now demands the right to govern permanently and without opposition, regardless of the outcome of elections.  This is evidence that the left today has lost respect for democratic institutions and that, if they were ever to find themselves firmly in control of government, leftists would not willingly relinquish power, even if voted out in a fair election.  The behavior of Obama partisans within the FBI and Justice Department, and of the Mueller probe that grew out of it, is precisely what one might expect of a radicalized opposition.  It appears that under President Obama, high officials undertook to spy on the Trump campaign with the intent to throw the election to Hillary Clinton.  The left sought to ensure that it retained control regardless of the will of the people.  When Clinton lost, it appears that the left sought, through the unwarranted appointment of a special prosecutor, to discover grounds for impeachment.  That probe is still underway, and it has employed unprecedented means such as the seizure of communication records between the president and his personal attorney.  President Trump has responded to these attacks with admirable restraint.  Wisely, he has refrained from firing Mueller or Rosenstein, despite apparent cause, even as he has seen one individual after another "retire" from FBI and Justice just as incriminating evidence was about to be revealed.  There is "strong circumstantial evidence" to suspect that high officials colluded to undermine the Trump campaign and the presidency, and that they employed criminal means to do so.  If true, this amounts to nothing less than "an insidious plot unprecedented in American history," one that would, if successful, have destroyed American democracy and replaced it with what would amount to the beginnings of a permanent leftist dictatorship.  No American, regardless of party preference, should fail to see the seriousness of these events.  The Watergate break-in and the cover-up that followed made for a serious crime, but it was nothing compared to what is now alleged on the part of members of the Obama administration or on the part of Obama himself.  If it is true that President Obama ordered Attorney General Lynch and Director Comey to avoid bringing charges against candidate Clinton and to spy on the Trump campaign with the intention of throwing the election to Clinton, and if high officials at the FBI knowingly requested a FISA warrant on the basis of evidence known to be false, these actions will represent the most serious political crimes in the history of the country.  The present-day atmosphere of political division does not excuse criminal behavior on the part of members of either party.  The Democrat Party has been radicalized to the extent that illegal behavior now seems to be an everyday reality.  Hopefully, leaders within that party will realize the dangerous ground they are on and pull back before further crimes take place.  If not, America will suffer even more division, in effect, a political civil war, with great damage to our republic.  As the extent of criminal activities of progressives within the FBI and Justice Department becomes known, the American people must understand the seriousness of what has taken place.  It's possible that the result will be a massive "red wave" in the fall elections with the Democrat Party marginalized for years to come, or until it returns to civil political discourse.  That would be a positive outcome and a just one, considering the seriousness of the alleged crimes.  Progressives will dismiss the seriousness of whatever crimes have been committed and engage in even more desperate measures.  If that happens, only the political will of the American people will stand in their way.

Leftists haven't stopped yelling about the 2016 election, but at least some of them are starting to wake up and smell the coffee they brewed themselves.  One reason the Trump corruption scandals aren't connecting as much as they should: Before Democrats spent the past 18 months telling everyone this is not normal, they spent years reassuring voters that this was normal.  Two can play that game, or more accurately, the Clintons lowered the bar.  Up until now, this phenomenon has been quite opaque to leftists, who have repeatedly dismissed Clinton (and Obama) behavior as business as usual.  Spying on political opponents, spying on the press, taking cash for foundation donations in exchange for policy decisions, was all claimed to be nothing, just as 'it's just about sex' had been.  Democrats routinely corrupted the system with their 'we'll just have to win it, then' mentality, courtesy of the Clintons, and now have to contend with a rigged Democrat Party, they can't even blame Republicans for that one, it's all their own doing.  Their Alinskyite 'by any means necessary' mentality has come back to bite them in the butts.  Now they have Trump to deal with, the same Trump of rising poll numbers, so lucky them.  What they did through this short term gain was open the door for someone else to take obvious transgressions that should have been nipped in the bud to ever greater extremes.  The Stormy Daniels controversy is a nothingburger to us now, because Bill Clinton and several Democrats before him already lowered the bar, thinking that if Democrats do it, it's all O.K.  Net result, voters just don't care because Democrats overplayed their hand and now we are living in a 'new normal' of your own making.

Name an American construct and the left will immediately drape it in negative energy.  Consider the right to vote and the Democrats will promptly speak of voter suppression and eccentrically claim that blacks are confused about where to get an identification card.  There is a video in which a fellow asks people in a largely black community where the closest DMV is; everybody knew the answer and offered directions.   Blacks have put their faith in a Democrat Party that has no faith in them.  From some angles it appears that the Democrat Party has broken up black families, jammed good people into hopeless ghettos and saddled citizens with grossly underperforming schools of no choice.  All of this serves to perpetuate the negativity that Democrats need to maintain control of these communities.  It is obvious the Democrat Party has no faith in the black community, nor any faith in any of their fellow citizens.  Democrats place great faith in the conclusion that Republicans are racist.  They believe Republicans want black children to starve and they don't want black people voting.  These negative notions have become an article of faith to many Democrats.  Their conclusion makes a poor statement about the character of the left; they have no faith in other people; they have no faith in anything.  Americans should not be led by those who lack faith in them.  Our whole system was designed to serve those who desire freedom and resolve to employ that freedom wisely.  Democrats believe the average black person will get confused while going to the local DMV and a corollary would suggest that the average black person will get confused while navigating their way through a ballot.  Faith in a negative power leads to hopelessness.  Democrats do not possess a faith that is positive.  Therefore they cannot build a perspective based upon the additive characteristics most citizens of conservative political persuasion possess.  Democrats rely upon casting a wide net of can’t dos, can’t says, and can’t thinks.  Conservatives have faith in fellow citizens. They allow Kanye West his own path; they allow everybody their own path.  The negative aura that surrounds the Democrat Party is a suffocating atmosphere that robs the soul of joy and hope, and we are astonished they manage to survive in such a toxic bubble.
