If America ought to learn anything from the Presidency of Barack Hussein Obama, it’s that inexperience may be a handicap, but unpatriotic sentiment is fatal to the body politic.  Rabble rousing among the vulnerable and disaffected, or as progressives refer to it, community organizing, and a short dalliance as a United States Senator hardly prepared the man-child Obama for America’s highest public office.  Coupled with his boundless hubris, he’s a force of nature on par with the Nepalese earthquake, a political wrecking ball shattering the architecture of carefully constructed foreign policy.  Obama is a colossal disaster leaving human misery and a shattered Middle East in the wake of his child-like bumbling, conducting foreign policy like a diapered child toppling building blocks with dense, undeveloped fingers.  Obama’s lack of experience, however, is really only tangential to his abysmal failure as a President.  Obama’s fatal flaw is his imperious disdain for what is most American.  He has contempt for our founding documents, our founding fathers, and for the religion that makes free enterprise and liberty possible.  He disparages Christ and His church while he bows and scrapes before the idol of the Mohammedans.  No small wonder, since Obama was raised by Muslims and must surely hold the doctrines of Mohammed in high regard.  He exhibits a barely restrained contempt for anything Christian.  In the face of murderous Islamic persecution, Obama has the temerity to lecture Christians about tolerance and love.  Obama’s torrid affair with things Islamic should come as no surprise since Islam’s reliance on the instrumentalities of human government is tailor-made for the despot, or the bureaucrat seeking personal, social, and national redemption under the rubric of the all powerful and benevolently solicitous state.  Obama is passionate about Islam, but cool to Christ and His church because Christ does not provide the required pretext to justify his lust for bureaucratic power.  The problem for America is that a constitutional republic cannot exist in the sterile soil of the primitive, patriarchal doctrines of the prophet. Islam is forever locked in the ancient past that is ignorant of inalienable rights.  The endgame for Islam is a worldwide caliphate and the imposition of an Ayatollah’s tyranny.  Obama’s anti-Americanism doesn’t stop with the Christian church.  He glowers down his aristocratic nose at the Constitution, a document containing principles without which we cease to be Americans.  Though Obama has reveled in the egalitarian benefits of exclusive education in the finest Ivy League schools, he nurtures a deep, reflexive distaste for the founding principles of our republic.  He rebels against the very ideas that made his success possible and he plays Judas to our founding fathers, and, this is why he fails so miserably as a President.  Led by the liberal news and media complex, Americans are increasingly comfortable with throwing off the fundamental principles of democracy that were the engines of prosperity, igniting the titanic forces of creativity and industry that transformed backwater British colonies in a mere two centuries into the world’s economic and military superpower.  Abraham Lincoln, universally regarded as one of our nation’s greatest presidents, was a man of inexperience.  He served for only eight years as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives and for a mere two years (one term) as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.  In 1861 Abraham Lincoln became our nation’s sixteenth president and one of the most pivotal figures in American history.  No amount of executive experience could have prepared Lincoln for the monumental and singular problems that faced him.  Lincoln possessed the essential quality that men like Obama lack - patriotism. Most people assume that American Presidents are automatically imbued with this quality by dint of the office that they hold.  Obama isn’t the first President to attempt to govern contrary to the dictates of patriotism and in contravention of the Constitution.  Woodrow Wilson comes in a close second to Obama’s record of deceit and subversion.  What a sad irony, that Obama swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution on the very Bible that Abraham Lincoln used for his inauguration and has sought to unravel the republic that Lincoln fought so fiercely to preserve and ultimately died for.  He is no patriot that seeks to subvert the Constitution, and he is no man of honor who breaches his oath to defend and preserve it, and any politician who vows to radically transform America is in breach of his or her solemn oath.

The root of conservatism lies in the concept of “ordered liberty” and the fundamental truth that human rights are God-given, not man-made and that individual liberty and freedom are birthrights.  Calvin Coolidge, America’s 30th President, perhaps the most conservative President of the last century, emphasized the underpinning conservative principle of the rule of law rests solely on “the divine origin of mankind.”  Likewise, conservative commentator Dennis Prager defines conservatism by what he calls “The American Trinity,” which preserves three fundamental truths.  In God We Trust” is the foundation for the rule of law. Manmade laws are designed to protect God-given human rights.  From that, E Pluribus Unum,” a unified and diverse people are encouraged to live peaceably, with “liberty” in their pursuit of happiness.  Within the American Trinity and republican form of government, the electorate determines the moral and ethical decisions and laws through representatives acting on their behalf.  In theory, the electorate governs through limited local, state, and federal governments that restrain and punish the malfeasant and enable ingenuity, personal responsibility, entrepreneurship, creativity, and a range of its citizens’ pursuits.  Conservatism fundamentally values life, conservative policies will seek to protect it.  Pro-life policies include economic, racial, and societal freedoms regardless of circumstances or socio-economic and political climates. Conservative policies are dictated by conservative principles, not the reverse.  Dividing conservatism between social/fiscal policies is a false dichotomy.  The root of conservatism is not laissez-faire economic policies that create personal financial profit and power, but principles that value life-giving activities that improve societal welfare.  Conservatism guided Coolidge to relieve a country crippled by debt and severe economic depression, institutionalized segregation, and class warfare to eliminate the progressive policies Woodrow Wilson and Congress created.  Coolidge evidenced fiscal responsibility by significantly reducing tax rates and the national debt by nearly one third.  Debt stifled freedom, limited entrepreneurship and economic growth. He advocated for personal responsibility and accountability through the rule of law, attempting to make illegal lynching and racial segregation, and hate crimes.  Contrary to Merriam-Webster’s definition of conservatism, that it “dislike(s) change or new ideas in a particular area,” conservatives have consistently opposed the status quo.  In the name of “progress” individual exceptionalism, ingenuity, creativity, successes and failures and the lessons learned from them are restricted and penalized. Yet, as history has shown “equating” economic or social outcomes results in repeatedly failed consequences that devalue life and eliminate human rights.  Conservatives support policies designed to safeguard the principles of the American Trinity and ordered liberty and thwart attempts to weaken and ultimately destroy them.

Democrats will tell you that Hillary Clinton will be the next President after the next election, but with each passing week that looks less like a statement of fact and more like a wish… and a weak wish at that given the constant drip-drip-drip of scandal out of her foundation and incompetent lies out of her record as Secretary of State.  Who could honestly say Hillary Clinton can be trusted in the White House?  The Clintons are bought and paid for by some of the world’s worst actors: Middle Eastern petro-tyrants, Ukrainian oligarchs, Putin stooges, African warlords and George Stephanopoulos, to name a few.  We are finally have proof of what was known from the start that the massacre in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012 was the result of an arms-for-jihadists program set up off the books by Clinton and her pals in the Obama administration, in which the CIA was conscripted to oversee the distribution of Qaddafi’s weapons stash to Syrian rebels not favored by the local Benghazi al-Qaeda affiliate, and amid this grand idea Clinton made no effort to provide security to her employees there.  We are also finding out, thanks to the exploits of a Romanian computer hacker who exposed her crony Sid Blumenthal’s emails, that Hillary is still hiding the complete record of her emails from the public, and correspondence between the former Secretary of State and her morally vacant henchman with business interests served well by Qaddafi’s ouster, we know, was both material to policy and proves she told bald-faced lies to the public about the origin of the Benghazi massacre.  The lies and illegality of Hillary Clinton are more than that of her husband, who skated past his multiple sexual assaults and perjury in attempting to cover them up by alleging the hot water around him was “just about sex.”  With Hillary, there are dead bodies littered all over the Libyan coastal plain, Putin has access to as much as half of American domestically produced uranium, Eastern Ukraine groans under the Russian yoke, and ISIS roams over territory paid for in American blood.  Couple such a record with a candidate without even a shred of charisma or youthful energy and any sober analysis of the Hillary Clinton campaign can only conclude it’s a disaster in the making.

Hustlers and people with little understanding want us to believe that today's black problems are the continuing result of a legacy of slavery, poverty and racial discrimination.  The fact is that most of the social pathology seen in poor black neighborhoods is entirely new in black history.  Today the overwhelming majority of black children are raised in single female-headed families.  As early as the 1880s, 75% of black families were two-parent.  In 1925 New York City, 85% of black families were two-parent.  Today's black illegitimacy rate of nearly 75% is also entirely new.  In 1940, black illegitimacy stood at 14%.  It had risen to 25% by 1965, when Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote "The Negro Family: The Case for National Action" and was widely condemned as a racist.  By 1980, the black illegitimacy rate had more than doubled, to 56%, and it has been growing since.  Both during slavery and as late as 1920, a teenage girl raising a child without a man present was rare among blacks.  Much of today's pathology seen among many blacks is an outgrowth of the welfare state that has made self-destructive behavior less costly for the individual.  Having children without the benefit of marriage is less burdensome if the mother receives housing subsidies, welfare payments and food stamps.  The social stigma associated with unwed motherhood has vanished.  Female-headed households, whether black or white, are a ticket for dependency and all of its associated problems. Ignored in all discussions is the fact that the poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits since 1994.  Black youth unemployment in some cities is over 50%.  High black youth unemployment is also new.  In 1948, the unemployment rate for black teens was slightly less than that of their white counterparts, 9.4% compared with 10.2%.  During that same period, black youths were either just as active in the labor force or more so than white youths.  Since the 1960s, both the labor force participation rate and the employment rate of black youths have fallen to what they are today.  The minimum wage law and other labor regulations have cut off the bottom rungs of the economic ladder.  Put yourself in the place of an employer, and ask: If I must pay $7.25 an hour, plus mandated fringes, such as Social Security and workers' compensation, would it pay me to hire a worker who is so unfortunate as to possess skills that enable him to produce only $5 worth of value per hour?  The minimum wage law discriminates against the employment of low-skilled workers, who are most often youths, particularly black youths.  The little bit of money a teenager can earn through after-school, weekend and summer employment is not nearly so important as the other things he gains from early work experiences.  He acquires skills and develops good work habits, such as being prompt, following orders and respecting supervisors.  In addition, there are the self-respect and pride that a youngster gains from being financially semi-independent. All of these gains from early work experiences are important for any teen but are even more important for black teens.  If black teens are going to learn anything that will make them a more valuable employee in the future, they aren't going to learn it from their rotten schools, their dysfunctional families or their crime-ridden neighborhoods. They must learn it on the job.  The bulk of today's problems for many blacks are a result of politicians and civil rights organizations using government in the name of helping blacks when in fact they are serving the purposes of powerful interest groups.

There must be some kind of explanation why the President of the United States, Barack Obama, would continue to talk about climate change and urge the global transition from fossil fuels to wind, solar and bio-energy.  I have concluded that he thinks everyone, not just Americans, are idiots.  We know he lies about everything, but these two topics are clearly near and dear to his heart.  The truth of the matter is: “Earth climate always has changed, is always changing, and always will change, but not from fossil-fuel use.  Solar fluctuations, deep ocean circulation patterns, and other powerful natural forces have driven climate change and weather events throughout Earth’s history and will continue to do so.  America’s communities do not need to be protected from climate change. They need to be protected from the excesses of authoritarian presidents and bureaucrats.”  At this point we have suffered his initial failure to respond to the recession he inherited from the 2008 financial crisis.  More than six years later the economy has barely moved toward a normal rate of growth.  Then we were gifted with ObamaCare and the disruption of what was widely regarded as the best health system in the world.  For good measure, he imposed Common Core on an already weakened educational system.  It is being repealed and opposed in many states.  For good measure, his foreign policy is widely regarded as a total failure.  He blamed climate change in the form of “severe droughts” for the rise of Islamism in the Middle East and Africa.  Someone needs to tell Obama that there have always been severe droughts somewhere on the planet, and floods, and forest fires, and blizzards, and hurricanes.  Even so, in the last eighteen years, there have actually been less of these natural events, along with the flat-lining of the planet’s overall or average temperature, there has been no warming!  Suffice to say there isn’t a glimmer of hard evidence to support anything the President is saying these days about climate change.  And this is the same President that wants the U.S. and the rest of the world to give up the use of fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas, to “stop climate change.”  If Obama’s climate change idiocy is just a way to distract Americans from the real problems we have encountered thanks to his failure to address them, then it is purely cynical and political, but if Obama really believes this stuff, he is unfit to be President.

So far ISIS has preferred the classical approach of killing everything in its path. It’s hard to destroy something if you don’t know what it is, and it’s hard to know what a thing is if you won’t even call it by its name or name its ideology.  The left loves root causes, but the root cause of ISIS isn’t poverty, unemployment or a lack of democracy; it’s Islam.  The Islamic State isn’t unnatural.  Its strength comes from being an organic part of the region, the religion and its culture.  Its Arab enemies have performed so poorly fighting it because their institutions, their governments and their armies are unstable imitations of Western entities.  Iraq and Syria aren’t countries; they’re collections of quarreling tribes that were forced into an arrangement that included the forms of Western government without any of the substance.  When the Europeans left, kingdoms quickly became military juntas.  Now the juntas are fighting for survival against Islamic insurgencies that are striving to return the region to what it was in the days of Mohammed.  There is no music, there are no rights, slavery is back and every decision is made by a cleric with a militia or a militia leader with a cleric.  That’s Mohammed; it’s the Koran; it’s Islam.  The fundamental mistake of the Arab Spring was the failure to understand that Islamist democracy is still a road leading to the Caliphate.  Turkey’s Erdogan, the Islamist whose rule was used to prove that Islamist democracy can work, now openly promotes the reestablishment of the Ottoman Empire.  ISIS is not a reaction; it’s the underlying pathology in the Muslim world.  The true regional alternative to Western colonialism is slavery, genocide and the tyranny of Jihadist armies.  Institutional Westernization that that never goes beyond a few government offices and military officers won’t work.  Neither will the attempt to artificially inject a few big ideas such as democracy into an undemocratic tribal culture.  The only alternative to depending on military juntas is transforming the people.  The West won a culture war with the USSR. It is capable of winning one with Saudi Arabia.  ISIS is not a military force; it is a cultural one.  Much of its success has come from its cultural appeal.  As long as the Middle East is defined in terms of Islam, some variation of the Islamic State or the Muslim Brotherhood bent on recreating the Caliphate will continue reemerging.  We have a choice between Islamization and de-Islamization.  If we are going to intervene in the Muslim world, it should not be to reward one Islamist group, whether it’s Iran or the Muslim Brotherhood, at the expense of another.  Instead we must carve out secular spaces by making it clear that our support is conditional on civil rights for Christians, non-believers and other non-Muslims.  Our most potent weapon isn’t the jet, it’s our culture.  We must abandon the idea that we need to take sides in Islamic civil wars.  Any intervention we undertake should be conditioned on a reciprocal degree of de-Islamization from those governments that we are protecting.  Instead of pursuing democracy, we should strengthen non-Islamic and counter-Islamic forces in the Muslim world.  We can’t beat ISIS with Islam and we can’t fight for freedom while endorsing constitutions that make Sharia law into the law of the land in places like Iraq and Libya.  We don’t only need to defeat ISIS, we must defeat the culture that makes ISIS inevitable.
