Barack Obama has done more to destroy liberal political power in the Congress and in the statehouses than any Democratic politician since the 1920s. Europe and the United States are seeing glimpses of the ultimate leftist trajectory -- a mixture of Greece and Detroit, de facto non-enforcement of the law, the Iranian nuke deal, a new McCarthyism, and race, class, and gender hatred. A growing number of people sense that 21st century leftist elites are not pragmatic working people, but a privileged sect that callously experiments with other people’s lives on the understanding that they are insulated and immune from the inevitable disasters that follow from their own ideas. 70% of the people who voted for Obama’s re-election now regret doing so. From the outset of this administration it has been clear that “diversity” (which to Obama means advancing the careers of every one of his cronies at the expense of non-Hispanic whites and males) over competence has been a major goal. Each week we see how much that harms national needs and shatters national unity. The bizarre inconsistencies involving sexual education and conduct must be creating a generation of celibate nutters. At the same time that children are being exposed in the classrooms to the sort of sex education only sailors on leave in major ports once had, we are making heterosexual conduct by young people fraught with criminal consequences. At the same time, teenagers and young adults are facing criminal charges and college expulsion for engaging in sexual relations. California legislators are doing their part to kill passion in a society where the young have been sexualized from kindergarten on. Remember the effect of “victim centered policies” in the Duke Lacrosse Case and the University of Virginia made-up rape story. These policies uniformly deprive young males of any reasonable due process protections. On the other hand, as we criminalize normal adolescent behavior which in fact we encourage in elementary-school classrooms, if you live in one of the left-wing enclaves which claim the high moral mantle of “sanctuary cities” and commit a crime you will not be held accountable and deported. It seems to me that cities that treat the ICE (the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency) as enemies ought to be deprived of federal funds, but I guess that’s not as bad in the eyes of our “progressive” officeholders as refusing to teach gender identity, anal, and oral sex to kiddies, or depriving college men of the right to a fair trial when charged with sexual misconduct. Americans like living in suburbs but the left is engaged in a war on the suburbs, one which is growing. Self-described progressives have decided that suburban living is too un-ecological, not mention too uncool, and even too white for their future America. Density is their new holy grail, for both the world and the U.S. Across the country efforts are now being mounted, through HUD, the EPA, and scores of local agencies, to impede suburban home-building, or to raise its cost. The obstacles being erected include incentives for density, urban growth boundaries, attempts to alter the race and class makeup of communities, and mounting environmental efforts to reduce sprawl. The left, however stupid, may sense a backlash, which along with their never-ending power grabs, might explain the increasingly outrageous assault on our constitutional rights. Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, who opposes the right of corporations to free speech, also opposes the rights of individuals to exercise it. We also learned that former IRS apparatchik Lois Lerner was illegally conspiring to jail Obama opponents. What needs to be done is to oust these leftist elites; ridicule and resist them at every opportunity; and join together state by state to refuse to follow their ill-conceived dictates.

I’ve wondered for the longest time why Americans remain silent to the massive “fundamental transformation” of our country by a minority of well-organized progressives who use any means necessary to attain their communistic ends, including the phony notion of “white privilege” in the most tolerant nation on the planet. While history is being altered, rewritten in the revisionist view of Saul Alinksy’s activists on the payroll of the current regime, various communist non-profits, and by low information voters and by the non-stop race-baiters, the U.S. has become the laughing stock of the rest of the world. Instead of respect, we get derision and mockery on Al Jazeera by our own millennials who work for various anti-American think-tanks and lobbying firms. The military is being cut down more and more, we are following into the footsteps of European countries that are powerless to defend themselves in the case of an attack. The fact that Memphis officials have voted to disinter the grave of a Confederate general and his wife, in an illogical attempt to purge every shred of our past and of our history, is mind-boggling. Donald Trump had the temerity to speak the truth by giving accurate statistics and facts about a certain segment of illegal aliens who represent a majority of criminals in our prison system, who invade our borders to commit crimes, to export their illegal drugs and criminal gangs, and to rape and murder innocents who happen to be in the way. The media and big business have savaged Donald Trump as a Presidential candidate. Why are Americans silent? Because they are afraid! They don’t want to lose their jobs, their freedom, and the acceptance of their neighbors, family, and friends on the social circuit. They don’t want to be called racists and bigots, so they remain silent. They don’t want to be thrown out of their churches by parishioners who also cower in fear of disapproval or loss of their jobs. Freedom of speech is free if you agree with me. If you disagree with liberals, freedom of speech no longer exists. Progressives have muzzled all of us with Political Correctness gone amuck. Our children cannot smoke in school, eat unhealthy foods for school lunches, cannot take aspirin for headaches, are drugged for real or imagined attention-deficit disorders, but can have state-subsidized sex-change operations at 15 in Oregon without parental consent. Children are brainwashed and indoctrinated into the religion of Gaia, scared every day in school about man-made global warming that is scientifically a hoax. It seems to be the norm now that “undocumented” immigrants criticize Americans for their generosity. We allow illegal aliens who invade our borders to take advantage of our welfare system, free education, free medical care, and freedoms unlike any offered in their former countries, freedoms which they are now trying to curtail with aggressive liberal activism. There is nothing shameful about American generosity and tolerance. We should not be demonized because we are white. Nobody should be demonized about the color of their skin any more than being bullied for being tall, short, skinny, or fat. History has shown that demonizing an entire group of people under the guise of “conversation” has gotten millions of innocents killed. It is bold and unwise to accuse the very people who are tolerantly accepting you into their midst even though you broke their laws by entering illegally. Feed me but I am going to bite your hand because I resent your ability and industriousness that allows you to share the fruits of your labor with me. Promoting the liberal inclusiveness agenda by making any child or adult feel ashamed of their skin color and of their heritage is repulsive.

Obama's policies suffered a historic trouncing by voters in the 2014 midterm elections, but they haven't disappeared. The agenda that Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton, unveiled contains almost the entire arsenal of Obama legislative and regulatory policies. She strongly endorsed ObamaCare and the Dodd-Frank financial regulations, while calling for more taxes on businesses, more government spending, more regulations on employers, more union-friendly policies and a higher minimum wage. Hillary isn't espousing reinventing government, but reinventing herself and her belief structure. Obama beat Hillary in 2008 by moving to the left of her. To prevent that in 2016, she's now tacked so far to the left, the good ship Queen Hillary could capsize. Hillary 3.0 shouldn't be confused as a government reform agenda, but a government expansion manifesto. Her call for more child care and public infrastructure spending, more government-imposed mandated benefits on employers, more federal regulations to make it easier for the big labor bosses to unionize plants, minimum-wage hikes, more taxes on hedge funds and U.S. corporations with foreign earnings, and more green energy subsidies broadens the size and scope of Washington at every turn. What all this means in practical terms is that Hillary is now running for Barack Obama's third term. But Americans want a new direction on the half-paced 2% growth economy, not full speed ahead with Obamanomics. Hillary will have a tough case selling why warmed-over Obamanomics will fare any better. She obediently rails against inequality while she espouses the same Obama policies that have made it worse. She wonders why businesses aren't investing more in the U.S. economy for "the long term," even as the tax hikes and regulatory burdens of the last six years, which she praises, have punished investment. What all this means is that the real reform agenda that Americans are demanding of Washington is only likely to come from the GOP. Hillary and her political cronies don't get it that "everyday Americans," have seen what Obamanomics and progressivism have done to their family finances under the guise of "fairness" and they wisely want less of it.

“Climate” is formally the thirty year “average” of weather. Climate is what we expect, on average, while weather is what we actually get. It is true that atmospheric conditions (dust, smoke, smog, aerosols, aircraft contrails, clouds and trace gases) can affect Earth’s weather. None of these minor atmospheric constituents can generate energy because they merely filter, reflect, transfer or redirect a portion of solar energy. The effects of any changes tend to be short-lived, or reversed as the atmosphere clears; or they often trigger negative feedbacks that largely offset the initial effect. The sun is the short-term weather wizard: it clearly controls the changing temperatures of day and night, winter and summer; it energizes the atmosphere to give the power to storms and cyclones; together with the Moon it produces tides and gyres and their changing cycles drive weather cycles on Earth. Meteorologists, long-range forecasters who study solar and planetary phases, and many intelligent farmers are best placed to forecast weather. The carbon-centric model predictions have failed dismally, suggesting strongly that carbon dioxide does not control weather. Earth currently basks in a benign climate interval, an interglacial warm period punctuated by occasional “Little Ice Ages” and between long periodic species-destroying eras of ice. As recently as twelve thousand years ago, large parts of Earth’s surface were covered by ice sheets up to 3km thick. Many species of mega-fauna disappeared suddenly in this cataclysm. Global warming has never been a threat to Earth’s inhabitants, even with temperatures several degrees above those of this modern warm era. The real danger to life on Earth is global cooling, and its big brother, Snow-ball Earth. Studies of sunspots and other solar variables suggest that a “Little Ice Age” is probably caused by solar variations. If solar activity decreases, two things happen: firstly, Earth’s surface cools because of the reduced solar radiation; and secondly, the sun’s magnetic shield also weakens, allowing more cosmic rays to strike the atmosphere, thus creating more nuclei for cloud generation. The extra cloud cover adds to the cooling trend by shading the surface and reflecting more solar radiation. Those who study solar cycles are already warning that Earth is facing the likely onset of a modern “Little Ice Age.” Dramatic / alarming changes to Earth’s climate require far more energy than humans or traces of non-combustible gases in the atmosphere can provide. Water vapor is by far the most important greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide is a bit player), but neither of these gases can warm Earth out of an ice age. A cold atmosphere has limited ability to hold these greenhouse gases because water vapor condenses in the cold air and is lost as rain and snow; carbon dioxide is lost by dissolving in the cold water and then gets trapped in the ice sheets. The sparse greenhouse gases that remain in a cold atmosphere are powerless to break the grip of the ice. It needs agencies which provide real energy into the system (such as the sun or geothermal heat). Carbon dioxide does not drive weather, or climate, or the icy extinctions, it varies mainly as a result, not the cause, of past temperature changes. Its great role in the global scheme is to feed the biosphere. To spend money trying to interfere with the carbon cycle is foolish; to try to bury carbon dioxide is a crime against the biosphere. Instead of wasting vast amounts of money on useless climate models and futile attempts to reduce the atmospheric content of a benign and beneficial gas like carbon dioxide, we should redirect climate research funds into studying the cycles of ice ages, submarine volcanism, magnetic reversals, solar activity and comets since one of these is more likely to cause our next climate catastrophe. Meteorologists, astro-physicists, geologists and cycles analysts, not government-directed carbon-centric climate modelers, are best placed to forecast future trends in climates.

The prestigious economic publication, Journal of Economic Literature, dubbed the period from 1980 to 2005 "the age of Milton Friedman," arguably the period of greatest economic advance for mankind in world history. As freedom and free markets were on the march, more than 1 billion people worldwide, mostly in China and India, moved out of poverty, and tens of trillions of dollars of new wealth were created worldwide. However the last decade could be described as the comeback of socialism. In response to the financial crisis, nations turned to central governments to steer them out of crisis. Government debt, spending and regulatory activity soared all across Europe and in the United States. The Keynesian model with government welfare spending as a "stimulus" came storming back in vogue, and nowhere more so than in the United States. Many countries, including Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, as well as the United States, experimented with quasi-socialist governments. Now the bitter price is being paid which more than anything else explains why the world is twisting in financial turmoil in recent weeks. Not just Greece, but at least a half a dozen nations appear to be on the verge of bankruptcy because they can't afford the social welfare states they have, and the bills are coming due. The socialists are getting hammered. Meanwhile, China's government is responding to a manufactured stock market bubble with more promises of Keynesian monetary and fiscal stimulus, interventions that will work there as well as they have in Japan and the U.S. Wall Street is acting as though more government intervention will fix financial markets, when excessive government intervention created the crisis in the first place. Greece is socialism on steroids, a place where the government gives a lot of things away for free, few people work, and millions receive government pensions, paychecks or welfare benefits. 50% of young people don't have a job and over half of Greeks retire before age 60. The wagon is full and no one is left to pull it. The crash is coming soon and the standard of living in Greece will surely plummet. There are so many more dominoes that could come crashing down. Almost all of Europe is a financial sink hole. The debts as a share of gross domestic product are 100% or more and the public spending as a share of GDP is now just shy of 50%. Germany Is the one nation in Europe that didn't use massive Keynesian stimulus, and is the one place where the economy is still functioning. The idea peddled by the left that nations like Greece are being ruined by austerity is one of the great mythologies of modern times. Even in the U.S., socialism is failing. Connecticut is the Greece of the East Coast. It keeps raising taxes and spending, and it remains in perpetual insolvency. The same can be said of Detroit, Chicago and a dozen California cities that can't pay their bills. Puerto Rico is a socialist welfare state and it may need to go into receivership to pay off tens of billions of unpayable debt. We are entering a new era of global finance when government bonds, sovereign debt, will be defaulted on because there is no one left to pay the bills and no one to bail them out. The poor will get poorer and the middle class will fall behind, the opposite of what socialism promised.

By any reasonable assessment, the United States is losing its 36-year war with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The surrender to Iran on sanctions and nuclear weapons will be one more stage in the American defeat by a determined, dishonest and surprisingly effective theocratic dictatorship in Tehran. Historians will look back on the Iranian campaign against the United States and conclude that there have been few examples of a weaker power so decisively outmaneuvering, bluffing, deceiving and weakening its vastly more powerful opponent. Sun Tzu would be proud of the strategic skills exhibited by the Iranians and their ability to lie and feign reasonableness while calmly and steadily implementing a strategy of relentless aggression. The Iranians are on the verge of a triple victory over the United States: an agreement that will legitimize Iran as the dominant regional power, substantially expand the amount of money it has to support terrorism and other military efforts, and smooth the path to its becoming a nuclear power. Whatever good personal relations Secretary of State John Kerry thinks he is developing with the Iranian foreign minister in Geneva, there is unrelenting anti-American hostility from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Here is the supreme leader of the Iranian dictatorship reminding his followers that any deal in Geneva is a deal with "the Great Satan." For more than three decades the regime has funded, supplied and trained terrorists all over the world, and we have done next to nothing. Iran has waged a proxy war against Americans using Hezbollah, including blowing up the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 63, and later bombing a Marine barracks there, killing 220 Marines, 21 other U.S. personnel, and 58 French troops. They captured the CIA station chief, tortured him for months, released a video of him after the torture and killed him. Iran has consistently supplied both Hezbollah and Hamas in their fight against Israel. Iran has sheltered al Qaeda members from Americans who were hunting them. Iran has provided bombs and other weapons used to kill Americans in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran has supported Bashar Assad in Syria and now supports the Houthis in Yemen. For all of this, there has been no significant cost to the regime. Indeed, America's influence had declined and Iran's power has increased. During a long stretch of economic sanctions imposed by the West, three things have become clear:
· The dictatorship values terrorism and military action more than economic growth, and the sanctions have had little or no impact on Iranian power projection.
· The dictatorship shields its military, police and political elites from the sanctions, and they are feeling little pain.
· The dictatorship has continued building centrifuges and is more nuclear-capable today than when the sanctions began. (The great irony of the talk-talk strategy is that the regime has gone from possessing a handful of centrifuges to thousands of them while its opponents pretend its progress is frozen.)
An American surrender to Iran in the nuclear talks will have four immediate and devastating consequences:
· First, as much as $150 billion in money impounded by the sanctions will be released. The regime's history teaches us that a substantial portion of this will go to fund terrorism and military action around the world.
· Second, once the sanctions are gone, the Iranians will sign very profitable contracts with German, Russian and Chinese firms. The pressure against reinstating the sanctions will be overwhelming (and two of the three countries have vetoes in the U.N. Security Council).
· Third, the Iranian nuclear program will be "approved" by the international community and will accelerate. If North Korea is any example, once these negotiations conclude, the Iranians will go full-speed ahead. Inspectors will be delayed, obstructed, lied to and will pathetically whine about Iranian noncompliance.
· Fourth, signing an agreement as a co-equal with the United States, Russia, China and the Europeans will drastically increase the prestige of the Iranian dictatorship. Enhanced prestige will translate into an already-aggressive regime bullying its neighbors even more.
Obama misunderstands the current reality. We are already at war with Iran, and they are winning. This deal hands them a victory while continuing our fantasy.
